Named for the volcanic tuff rock formations found in the area, Tuff Campground sits around the halfway point between the towns of Bishop and Mammoth Lakes along U.S. 395. Situated along Lower Rock Creek, Tuff Campground also offers excellent fishing opportunities to everyone that visits.

Tuff Campground is notable for being one of the first campgrounds cleared of snow every year, making this the ideal spot for early season trips to the Eastern Sierra.

Snug between the solitary white tower of Crystal Crag and the granite wall of Mammoth Crest, Lake George is the highest road-accessible lake in the Lakes Basin.

Thank you for a wonderful Summer of Stewardship! 💚

What a summer of showing up for the places we love.

To everyone who joined Clear The Line, Trashy Thursdays, and Wednesday Worknights—and all our Eastern Sierra Adopt A Trail and Tangle Free Waters volunteers—thank you!

Every piece of litter picked up, length of fishing line removed, and hour spent caring for our trails and waterways made a difference. Your time and effort help keep the Eastern Sierra beautiful and welcoming for everyone who comes next.

We’re grateful for the neighbors, friends, families, and community partners who rolled up their sleeves alongside us.

Thank you for making stewardship part of your summer and for caring for this place we call home.

An afternoon of learning and giving back at Twin Lakes! 💙

MLR teamed up with Mammoth High School’s AP Environmental Science class to talk about Tangle Free Waters, the importance of properly disposing of fishing line, and how we can all help care for our lakes.

Thank you to these students for bringing their curiosity, energy, and passion for keeping our Eastern Sierra landscape healthy. We loved spending the afternoon with you!

Located in the middle of the June Lake Loop, the small, secluded parking area is the hub for the Fern Lake, Yost Lake and Carson Peak trips. This trail starts with a climb that is made up of a few long switch-backs. About half way you will reach the stream crossing at which point you can continue to Fern Lake or go left towards Yost Lake. The trailhead elevation sits at about 7,300 feet and reaches 8,885 feet at its highest point along the trail. Once there, you and the pooch can enjoy the waterfalls on the far side of Fern Lake or sit on the beach and enjoy the serenity that nature has to offer.
