Happy Indigenous’ Peoples’ Day from Keep Pugwihuu/Tacabe Wat Green! Long Valley, originally called Pugwihuu and/or Tacabe Wat by indigenous peoples on the land, continues to be a critical landscape for tribes, wildlife, and the larger community. Keep Long Valley Green thanks our indigenous coalition members and all who have guided us in the effort to keep this area irrigated. Thank you, and enjoy the federal holiday 💚

Join us! We are cleaning up Long Valley this Sunday at our little piece of the US 395 alongside Crowley Lake. Coffee and donuts provided, along with the most scenic trash picking up you’ll ever do!

Trash from the 395 can pollute the fields and waters of Long Valley: it is important we get this area cleaned up before the winter snows settle in! RSVP on our profile or on our story.

Happy Indigenous Peoples’ Day! Today we celebrate the rich history of the indigenous peoples of these lands and their ongoing contributions to culture, knowledge, and the protection of the natural world.
Today, this week, and all year, support indigenous peoples by -donating to some of the great local indigenous-lead organizations, like our Allie’s at the Owens Valley Indian Water Commission 💧
-educating yourself on the rich history of local tribes and the land you stand on and the names of these places before colonization. We have learned that Long Valley is also known as Pugwihuu or Tacabe Wat 🌱In the Eastern Sierra, we are lucky to have the beautiful Owens Valley Paiute Shoshone Cultural Center to visit!
-showing up to Indigenous lead public events/buying Indigenous goods. Add public events from local tribes and indigenous organizations to your calendar: follow on social media to get notified about art fairs, holiday markets, volunteer days and more. 🎉

How does a ❄️record breaking❄️ winter (and a rainy summer! ☔️☀️) affect the land? It’s not all flooding and infrastructure damage! Jaime Lopez Wolters of Friends of the Inyo went out to document the end of summer in the amazingly green Long Valley- you can check those photos out in the most recent edition of “Every Last Drop”! ⬇️

Thanks for having us No Hot Creek Mine !

Thanks to everyone who came to support , Keep Long Valley Green , and Friends of the Inyo at the Summer's End Folk Fest Saturday at at in Visit Mammoth ! The vibes and music were so much fun that even 's Emily Markstein joined the other players on the washboard for some of the more upbeat tunes. The concert ended with a song that happily proclaimed, "Today is a Good Day." Let's keep up the good fight for environmental protection of Eastern Sierra lands!
