Happy Indigenous Peoples’ Day! Today we celebrate the rich history of the indigenous peoples of these lands and their ongoing contributions to culture, knowledge, and the protection of the natural world.
Today, this week, and all year, support indigenous peoples by -donating to some of the great local indigenous-lead organizations, like our Allie’s at the Owens Valley Indian Water Commission 💧
-educating yourself on the rich history of local tribes and the land you stand on and the names of these places before colonization. We have learned that Long Valley is also known as Pugwihuu or Tacabe Wat 🌱In the Eastern Sierra, we are lucky to have the beautiful Owens Valley Paiute Shoshone Cultural Center to visit!
-showing up to Indigenous lead public events/buying Indigenous goods. Add public events from local tribes and indigenous organizations to your calendar: follow on social media to get notified about art fairs, holiday markets, volunteer days and more. 🎉
