When Michelle was diagnosed with cancer in July 2025, her journey quickly became about more than just treatment.

Unable to work, she suddenly found herself navigating a series of financial hurdles. Her temporary disability benefits ran out sooner than expected after an emergency appendectomy delayed the start of chemotherapy. Her treatment was then postponed for more than six weeks due to health insurance issues. Applications for disability and food assistance brought more challenges and uncertainty.

Throughout it all, Michelle's 19-year-old son stepped up to help support the household - paying bills, covering rent, and making sure there was food on the table. While she is incredibly grateful for his support, Michelle shared that “the biggest challenge for me is not having my own money and asking my son for help as he's already doing enough.”

Through our Light of Hope Family Program, Bringing Hope Home was able to provide rent assistance and ACME gift cards for groceries, helping relieve some of the burden during an incredibly difficult season.

Michelle shared, "BHH provided rent relief and a grocery gift card so we can eat." She added that the support meant so much because "I now know there will be food on our table next week."

As we close out our Social Worker Appreciation spotlight series, we’re ending with a very special shoutout to a social worker who is incredibly important to the Bringing Hope Home Team. 🧡

Before joining our team as Family Involvement Coordinator, Kim Rabago was one of the oncology social workers we proudly partnered with, connecting Families facing cancer to Bringing Hope Home's support programs. Now as part of the BHH Team, Kim continues to bring comfort, guidance, and HOPE to the Families we support every day.

Through her years of experience in healthcare social work, she brings incredible insight, care, and perspective to our mission, and we are so grateful for the heart she pours into helping others.

Outside of work, Kim enjoys creative writing, journaling, exploring local bookstores and coffee shops, and spending time at the beach with family and friends - her “second home” as a Jersey girl at heart. One of Kim’s favorite quotes is: “You are never too old to set another goal or dream a new dream.” - C.S. Lewis

A heartfelt thank you to this wonderful group of friends for coming together to spread comfort and HOPE!

Darleen recently hosted an event where herself and friends put together 20 Bags of Hope filled with thoughtful comfort care items that were distributed to individuals undergoing cancer treatment at Main Line Health Paoli Hospital. This act of kindness makes such a meaningful difference during difficult days.

In addition to assembling the bags, Darleen also raised over $500 to support Bringing Hope Home Families affected by cancer!

Thank you Darleen for turning compassion into action, and for rallying your community to make such a meaningful impact. We are so grateful for your support and the HOPE you all helped bring to so many! 🧡

Congratulations to our 2026 Volunteer of the Year, Troutman Pepper Locke! ✨

At this year’s Philly Great Guys Dinner, we were honored to recognize Troutman Pepper Locke for their incredible partnership, generosity, and unwavering support of Bringing Hope Home over the years.

Since the very beginning of our organization in 2008, Troutman Pepper Locke has played an important role in helping Bringing Hope Home grow and thrive. What started with a simple offer to help with our legal needs as a newly forming charity turned into a longstanding partnership rooted in compassion and service.

Over the years, their team has supported our mission in countless ways - from filing our original paperwork and helping create our bylaws, policies, and trademarks, to hosting board meetings, providing guidance, supporting our events, and helping Families during the holidays.

A wonderful evening celebrating the power of community and giving back!

We’re incredibly grateful to the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation Philadelphia Chapter for including Bringing Hope Home in this year’s Spring Gathering, which brought together members of the insurance community in support of local nonprofits making a difference across Greater Philadelphia.

Together, the event raised more than $60,000 to support Families and communities throughout Greater Philadelphia! 🧡

Continuing to shine a light on the incredible social workers who help Families feel supported, connected, and cared for throughout their cancer journey!

Meet Stan from Penn Medicine Pennsylvania Hospital, who has spent the past 12 years serving Families as a social worker at Penn Medicine. A Philadelphia native and University of Pennsylvania graduate, Stan brings compassion, dedication, and a strong sense of community to the work he does every day.

Outside of work, Stan enjoys traveling and camping with his family, volunteering with the Red Cross, and cheering on the Phillies at local sporting events and concerts.

We’re grateful for the care and support Stan brings to the Families he serves! 🧡
