Hope Has No Age Limit

“We don’t have many spaces today to form intergenerational relationships and communities with each other. Faith-based communities, like the ones formed with Bridge of Hope’s model, are a great example of those spaces.” said Sara Wein, Executive Director of National Alliance on Mental Illness Chester County PA, a partner organization.

Neighboring provides an opportunity for volunteers to get their whole family involved and can create an extra layer of connection when the children of Neighboring Volunteers connect with the children in Neighboring Families.

When Beth Freney and her husband started neighboring with a group from their church, it became a great opportunity for their two teenaged sons to also get involved.

“They’ve developed a great friendship with the son that we neighbored. And when he spends time at our house, he’s not really there to hang out with me. He just loves to play with the guys, and I think that’s meant a lot to him. Whether it was fishing together or playing soccer initially, then it became basketball and swimming, they were able to create bonds with him that are still existing, even though his family graduated from the program.”

We are celebrating that Bridge of Hope Chester County received some awards at the Bridge of Hope Conference this month! 🎉
We received a Mission Benchmark Award, for moving 100% of families into safe and sustainable housing within 60 days and connecting 100% of families with their Neighboring Volunteers in fewer than 60 days.
Additionally, we achieved 13 of the 14 benchmarks for ending family homelessness!

A group of Neighboring Volunteers from Experience Christian Church recently launched with a family! The family prepared a meal to share with the Neighboring Volunteers in their new home, creating a meaningful opportunity for connection, hospitality, and community.

We are grateful for partners like Experience Church who are stepping into the work of neighboring families facing homelessness.

We are so grateful to be awarded a grant and to partner with Phoenixville Community Health Foundation! 🎉

We’re thrilled to announce our 2026 annual grantees! This grant cycle, we awarded a total of $1,603,538 to 43 health and human services organizations assisting residents of the greater Phoenixville Area.

We are so grateful to Gateway Church in Parkesburg! They currently have two Neighboring Volunteer groups, involving 15 people from the congregation, serving two local families. Thank you for being good neighbors in our local community!

“I feel like I received more than I gave,” Jean, a Neighboring Volunteer, said.

We see it as a true partnership, built on respect and mutual relationships between families and their Neighboring Volunteers. Recently, we’ve seen this mutuality illustrated in remarkable ways.

Sierra’s* Neighboring Volunteers helped her move into her new apartment, offered to watch her children, made meals, and helped her make connections with the local community center. Grateful for their support, Sierra looked for ways to build deeper relationships with them. She worked with one volunteer to find a lawnmower they could share and has helped another with childcare. She also attended a game night at a volunteer’s home and brought dessert to share.

We are excited that we recently had a neighborhood launch with a family and Neighboring Volunteers from Christ Community Church in West Chester!
This church formed another group that launched with a family earlier this year. We are grateful for their support!
