Academy for Leadership Abilities® (ALA) is the World’s Premier Producer of Superior Quality Leadership and Personal Growth Skills Curriculum for ALL youth, ages 12 – 18. Ethical leadership, teamwork and personal growth principles are taught based upon John C. Maxwell’s work, The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership. Four things make this complete, user-friendly, ready-to-teach, curriculum valuable: 1

) learning activities involve ALL participants at the same time 2) no one is required to
travel outside their home area, 3) parents approve and communities support
this program, and 4) the curriculum is easily adaptable to anyone in leadership
or to anyone aspiring to be in leadership positions regardless of age. Positive Youth leadership is positive youth influence. Everything rises and falls on leadership. THE VALUE OF ALA PROGRAMMING

Academy for Leadership Abilities® programming strives to develop self-respect in youth, ages 12 -18 years, by instilling the critical importance of 1) learning 2) understanding and practicing
leadership and personal growth principles through spaced repetition. Integral in ALA programming is immersing youth in how to think. Phase one is learning the techniques. Phase two is understanding the principles behind to techniques. Understanding how those techniques work provides assurance that they will work. Gaining confidence in the ultimate effectiveness of those techniques is important because it helps to provide the motivation to keep going with phase three. Phase three is doggedly and determinedly practicing, not only becoming proficient in the techniques, but also to become a different person. It is childlike not to acknowledge that each person is born with certain gifts and blessings. Each person begins life with a head start in some area and a handicap in other areas. It is a rare individual who does not have a family member, a friend or an acquaintance who has a family member that is developmentally impaired. In this youth development program, demonstrating the intrinsic value of willingly accepting diverse populations for inclusion in communitywide affairs is commonplace. The purpose of ALA programming is to inject participating youth with two primary ideas: 1) the conviction that one sacrifices present pleasures for future benefits and 2) a respect for the value of education. The Performance Gap is not only a serious problem with youth. An individual’s daily habits may include reading, listening and/or watching leadership and personal growth skills information. Many, nearly religiously, attend training seminars. Unless the individual takes action on their time invested, it turns out to be a huge waste of time. Therefore, ALA strives to inject participants the AIDA formula: A = Attention I = Interest D = Desire A = Action. Without action, it all is a huge waste of time and money. Nice to know, simply is not good enough. Examine most any newspaper and/or business journal, listen to most any newscast and you will hear one common theme: lack of leadership. Effective leadership can be taught and learned. Acquisition of leadership skills, attitudes
