How do nonprofit organizations begin? How are community outreach programs brought to life? For us, it was compassion, love and the joy of doing something to brighten a child's day in the midst of a difficult time in their life. And the overwhelming sense of just knowing that we were and are meant to do what we are doing.
There was an article in a magazine Louise read about an organization that was donating quilts to foster children. She instantly felt her heart drawn to do this too.
When our ministry began in November of 2023, Louise and I had no idea where the road would take us. We knew we wanted to make a difference in the Lives of foster children in our community. We began donating twin size quilts to the franklin county foster care program. Using our resources and 2 sewing machines, we began what has grown into something amazing!
We have 13 volunteers, been able to purchase a few machines, been donated a few machines, have people making and donating quilts on their own, many people donating fabric, supplies and monetary gifts which enable us to do what we do.
We donate 5 quilts month- 60 a year- to Franllin County foster care. This month we began donating quilts to Clinton County!! Our first donation was 20 quilts! This enables us to keep ahead of our donations making more preparing for the next batch to donate.
This is a wonderful journey that keeps growing. It doesnt just bless these special children, it blesses all of us who are involved in the process of making these precious quilts.
If you want to help our mission please reach out to us. There are many ways you can show us support and become part of an amazing community effort to make a difference in the Lives of children.
May is national foster care month. Please share our story. May it encourage all who read it. Every one of us can make a difference in the Lives of others. Nothing is small when it is given and received with a big heart.
