Malin American Legion Auxiliary We are going to bring the American Legion Auxiliary back to Malin. The purpose of the ALA is to help our local veterans, youth and the community.

Eligibility Requirements for American Legion Auxiliary Membership:

Membership in the American Legion Auxiliary shall be limited to the grandmothers, mothers, sisters, wives, and direct and adopted female descendants of members of The American Legion, and to the grandmothers, mothers, sisters, wives, and direct and adopted female descendants of all men and women who were in the Armed Forces of the

United States during any of the following periods and died in the line of duty during such service, or who, having received an Honorable Discharge, died after service:
Gulf War/War on Terrorism August 2, 1990 to date of cessation
Panama December 20, 1989 - January 31, 1990
Lebanon and Grenada August 24, 1982 - July 31, 1984
Vietnam War February 28, 1961 - May 7, 1975
Korean War June 25, 1950 - January 31, 1955
WW II December 7, 1941 - December 31, 1946
WW I April 6, 1917 - November 11,1918

The Malin American Legion Auxiliary is looking for someone to manage the Auxiliary starting in January of 2027. Heidi Cottingham (myself) and Jennifer Smith have kept it going for over 10 years now and we are both moving on to other projects.

Unit 84 has helped local veterans as well as sent many local youth to Girls and Boys State programs every year. We also created and awarded the Ruth Unruh Memorial Scholarship every year there was an applicant. It will be sad to lose this valuable community program.

If no replacement is found, the Malin Charter will be forfeited and the Auxiliary will cease to exist. All current Auxiliary members will be transferred to the Klamath American Legion Auxiliary Unit.

If you are interested or know someone who would want to take the reins and save our Unit, please message Heidi or Jennifer.

Unit 84 will be having a meeting to elect our 2024/2025 officers and decide what fundraising efforts we will try in the coming year. Please meet us at the Malin Community Hall on Monday, July 1st at 7pm.

Memorial Day Pancake Breakfast Fund Raiser:
American Legion Post 84 Malin Oregon Monday
May 27th at the Malin Community Hall Doors open 7 a.m. until 10 a.m.
Adults $10, Kids under 10 years old $5 and kids under 5 free.
Please share this so we get as much coverage as possible.
All proceeds benefit local veterans and American Legion youth programs.
