Advocates for Malibu Public Schools (AMPS) Excellent schools through local control. Your participation and support will help AMPS make Malibu schools the best they can be.

AMPS has the support of the Malibu City Council and the benefit of a favorable feasibility study by WestEd, a nonprofit education research agency. AMPS and its members educate Malibu and Santa Monica parents, teachers, community leaders, neighbors, and friends how an independent Malibu School District benefits every student by creating self-determination and independence in public education. Amazing night last night as the Malibu City Council ratified the three agreements that will form the basis for our separation from Santa Monica.

Monday is a huge day.

As you all know, last week the SMMUSD Board unanimously agreed to ratify agreements that will begin the formation of an independent Malibu Unified School District!

This coming Monday 12/8 the City Council will vote to ratify the same agreements. We need all of you to:

- Attend the meeting at City Hall this Monday at 5:30pm.
- Join the meeting via Zoom
- Ask a neighbor or friend to attend, join the Zoom, or write an email.

Tonight the historic happened -- the SMMUSD Board of Education voted unanimously to approve the three agreements negotiated over the past few years with the City of Malibu which will form the basis of our future Malibu Unified School District.

Next step will be on December 8 at 5:30pm in Malibu City Council Chambers as the Malibu City Council will take up the same three agreements for ratification.

Please come in person and make your voices heard and your gratitude known! City Council subcommittees have worked for years on this.

THE TIME HAS COME!

This coming Monday, December 1, the SMMUSD Board of Education is scheduled to ratify the three unification agreements negotiated over the past several years which will form the basis for Malibu’s eventual separation from SMMUSD and the formation of a Malibu Unified School District (MUSD).

The following Monday, December 8, the Malibu City Council will ratify the same three agreements and our pursuit of a Malibu Unified School district begins in earnest.

A historic day. Malibu High now has a stand-alone campus. For the first time in city history, our high school and middle students will have separate campuses. Congrats to our incoming classes this Fall!

This third and final County Committee hearing on Malibu unification is on Monday, March 17, 2025 @ 6:00PM at Santa Monica College (Student Services Center, Orientation Hall) at 1900 Pico Blvd.
