Located in Western Malibu, in Nicholas Canyon, the Nature Trust of the Santa Monica Mountains is a 501 (c)(3) non profit land trust. The Nature Trust is committed to protecting natural areas of the Santa Monica Mountains for habitat conservation, nature based education and outdoor recreation. Protecting sensitive lands in our local mountains and carefully designing public use programs is our full-time commitment. Objectives and Activities include habitat conservation and preservation of land through acquisition by donation or purchase from willing sellers. Restoration of natural areas and watersheds through cooperative planning such as the Nicholas Canyon watershed restoration plan. Educational seminars and retreats exploring the relationships between environment, human health and personal responsibility. Outdoor recreation and docent led nature walks through the Malibu Nature Preserve. Organized outdoor recreational programs for children and adults that promote harmony between humanity and nature.
