A Chance for Children was happy to help the Watts Girl Scouts experience an unforgettable weekend at Camp Lakota! Nestled high in the mountains near Los Padres National Forest, Camp Lakota is a beautiful 60-acre Girl Scout camp where our girls will have the chance to step outside the city, breathe in the mountain air, and experience a whole new world of adventure. The girls got to experience: Horseback riding, Zip-lining, Archery, Swimming, and Campfires under the stars. It was a weekend filled with friendship, confidence, laughter and memories! Experiences like this are about so much more than a weekend away. They are about exposure — giving young people opportunities to discover new places, try things they may never have imagined, challenge themselves, and realize just how big their world can be. We believe exposure creates reality. Sometimes all it takes is one new experience to open a child's eyes to what's possible. Thank you LAPD SE CSP Officer Jesse Ruiz for driving the girls and helping make this weekend a reality.

There’s nothing quite like watching a child step onto the ice for the very first time! A Chance for Children had the opportunity to introduce kids from Los Angeles’ inner-city communities to the exciting world of ice hockey — learning how to skate, hold a hockey stick, work as a team, and most importantly, believe they can try something completely new. For many of these kids, this was their first time ever on the ice. There were a few wobbly legs and plenty of falls — but even more laughter, determination and BIG smiles. ❤️

We have always believed that exposure creates reality. When you give a child the chance to experience something outside of their everyday world, you never know what dream you might ignite!

A Chance for Children Foundation is so proud to sponsor a special day with the LAPD for the Sunshine Kids — incredible children who are courageously battling cancer. For one day, it’s simply about being a kid — having fun, laughing, making new friends and creating memories with the LAPD officers who are helping make the day so special. These are the moments that remind us why we do what we do. Sometimes it doesn’t take a lot to do a lot — just bringing people together, opening a door, and giving a child a reason to smile. We are honored to play a small part in a very special day for some very special kids.

A special day for the young readers in Next Chapter, the book club we’re proud to sponsor with LAPD Olympic Division!
Our youth took a trip to Barnes & Noble, where they had the chance to explore the shelves, discover new authors and stories, and experience the excitement of choosing books that speak to them. That’s what Next Chapter is all about — encouraging young people to read, think, discuss, dream bigger, and discover worlds beyond their own. Sometimes all it takes is the right book, the right opportunity, and someone who believes in you to help write the next chapter of your story. We’re so proud to be part of this program and grateful to LAPD Olympic Division for investing in these incredible young people.

It’s that time of year again! We are excited to partner with the LAPD Newton Community Safety Partnership (CSP) to support the children and families at Pueblo Del Rio Housing Authority as they get ready for a brand-new school year.

Year after year, we are honored to walk alongside these students and their families — not just in August, but throughout the year. Providing backpacks stuffed with essential school supplies is just one small way we help empower the youth to step into the classroom with confidence, pride, and everything they need to succeed!

Building Readers. Building Leaders. A Chance for Children is excited to help sponsor a new Book Club for the teen cadets at LAPD Olympic Division!

There’s something powerful about putting a great book in a young person’s hands — and then giving them a place to talk about it, challenge ideas, hear different perspectives, and find their own voice. The cadets will kick things off with an incredible mix of books:
