Genocide does not just happen out of the blue. There are always some circumstances that are created in order for it to occur. According to the UN, genocide is one of the gravest crimes against humanity. However, it is often defined as the eradication of a particular national, ethnic, racial, or religious group.

In order to understand better what genocide is and how many genocides have been committed in the past, let’s have a look at its official definition and background.

Reparations of the Heart by artist Kristin Anahit Cass at the University of Michigan-Dearborn’s Stamelos Gallery highlights our belief that tolerance can be taught through art.

The exhibition is described well by Dr. Tamar M. Boyadjian on Hyperallergic, “The artist’s work collectively acknowledges the generational trauma living in the bodies of the descendant generations, but also sees this generation as the conduit through which the reparations of both heart and body can become actualized.”

Reparations of the Heart prompts the question: Where would diaspora Armenians and other SWANA communities be if the Armenian Genocide had never happened?

Thank you to Israel's most-read English news website The Jerusalem Post for highlighting our campaign. Through art we can raise awareness, understanding and promote healing as we recognize not only the past but the present.

Designed by founder and architectural designer Douglas Busch of Busch Design Build, Inc., Genos Center will use art to offer new perspectives on past and present genocides ranging from The Holocaust and Armenian Genocide to those occurring today in areas such as Myanmar (also known as Burma), China, Ethiopia, Iraq, Syria and South Sudan.

The Genos Center will serve as a voice for marginalized communities and aims to eradicate the causes of genocides through art, education, and awareness.

Our mission is to teach tolerance, inspire reflection and allow visitors to form new ties between their understanding of history and their emotional subconscious through the power of art. Our vision is for visitors to see the artwork and the world from a new perspective.

The non-denominational chapel and reflective gardens designed by Douglas Busch of Busch Design Build, Inc. extend the open-air feeling of the architecture.

The first of its kind concept will ensure that history is not erased and the memory of those impacted forever remains. The Genos Center will become a destination for international curators, educators, tourists, and those in the local community.

Through art we can raise awareness, understanding and promote healing as we recognize not only the past but the present.

Genos Center will serve as a voice for many who are not heard. In the last century alone over 50 Million lives have been unjustly taken. If genocidal policies and colonialism continue, some groups of people will cease to exist.
