Housing Families Inc. At Housing Families, we are working to achieve housing equity and well-being for all.

We partner with communities, families, and individuals to ensure housing stability through our wrapround services. We offer personalized, wraparound services to work towards housing stability with individuals, families, and communities. Our programs include temporary and permanent housing, food assistance, individual counseling and group therapy, legal assistance, and youth programs. Housing Families is the only non-profit in Greater Boston to provide these holistic services under one umbrella.

As Hispanic Heritage Month comes to a close, we're reflecting on what this month means to members of our Housing Families team.

For some, it's a time to honor the hard work and sacrifice of parents, grandparents, and ancestors who created opportunities for future generations. For others, it's a chance to celebrate culture, learn from one another, and create space for friends and colleagues to share their heritage.

This month reminds us of the importance of lifting up stories, accomplishments, and contributions that have shaped our communities while standing alongside those whose voices deserve to be heard.

Shoutout to Colette Bakery Melrose for their commitment to food rescue! Volunteers like Casey Stratford pick up scrumptious extras from Colette four days a week, and deliver to the Broadway Inn motel shelter run by Housing Families Inc., the Caritas Communities Vine Street residence, Cefalo Retirement Complex, the Milano Center and A Servant's Heart Food Pantry at Faith Evangelical Church.

Housing Families was proud to join colleagues from across the Commonwealth at the Massachusetts Housing & Shelter Alliance’s Annual Retreat, an important opportunity to help shape advocacy priorities for the year ahead. We heard from Joyce Tavon, John Yazwinski, Secretary Juana Matias, and Deborah DeSantis about the critical importance of supportive housing and protecting our housing safety net during a time of significant change and uncertainty.

Our CEO, Laura Rosi, joined a panel focused on how organizations can best support staff through these challenging times, while Renee Cammarata Hamilton and Sonia Caus Gleason participated in conversations about how we can respond to federal changes to CoC-funded supportive housing and Medicaid that could significantly impact the people we serve.

The months ahead will require all of us to speak up for the programs and resources that keep people safely housed. We look forward to continuing to stand alongside MHSA, our coalition partners, policymakers, and people with lived experience to protect supportive housing, and strengthen our housing safety net.

For 40 years, Housing Families has helped thousands of families move from crisis to stability.

One of those families included a single mother and her daughter who faced homelessness, housing insecurity, and eventually a breast cancer diagnosis. Thanks to our affordable housing and wraparound support, she was able to recover, rebuild, and create a brighter future for her family.

Today, she's in remission and planning for her daughter's college dreams.

This is the impact we're celebrating at our 40th Anniversary Celebration Fundraiser on November 5th.

With over 80 years of collective service, both organizations have stood alongside individuals and families facing housing and food insecurity. This union represents a commitment to strengthening our programs, expanding our reach, and ensuring we can continue meeting community needs now and into the future.

By uniting our resources, experience, and shared values, we will be able to deepen our impact across the North Shore while preserving the community-centered approach that defines both organizations.
