The next Extinction Medicine x Ethics of Human Extinction Reading Group session is this Saturday, October 17, 2026 at 11:30 AM EDT.

Stella Ziegler, medical student at the University of Charité and IPPNW Deputy Board Chair (Germany), will present a report that she helped develop with the Global Climate and Health Alliance (GCHA): Climate Change, Armed Conflict, and Global Public Health: A Reinforcing Cycle of Harm.

IPPNW International Student Representative, Anna Khouri and a delegation of IPPNW's Dutch affiliate (NVMP -Doctors for Peace) attended the World Medical Association General Assembly in Rotterdam to contribute to discussions on medical ethics, advocating for peace, disarmament, and against the militarization of healthcare.

Anna contributed to a panel discussion for the WMA Junior Doctors Network - JDN on equity in healthcare. “When healthcare workers cannot practice in safe environments, equitable healthcare becomes impossible.” In a world where attacks on healthcare personnel and infrastructure are increasing all over the world, these conversations are crucial.

It’s been a while since our last global gathering, and we have so much to catch up on!

Join us on October 3 at 12:00 PM GMT as we reconnect with medical students and young healthcare professionals from across the world.

From the recently concluded IPPNW Global Health Summer School to our student-led campaigns and the upcoming TPNW Review Conference in New York, there’s plenty to discuss!

🚨The IPPNW Extinction Medicine Reading Group is back!🚨

Join IPPNW's medical student movement this Saturday, September 19, 11:30 AM EDT, in collaboration with the Ethics of Human Extinction Reading Group for the opening keynote by Dr. Marina Nord. This is the first session of our group on Democracy, Autocracy, and Extinction Risk, which will examine how current trends in political systems and extinction risk converge.

Dr. Nord is one of the world’s foremost experts on the decline of democracy globally and in the US. Per her empirical, co-authored, Democracy Report 2026: a global majority now lives in autocratic regimes. Join us Saturday to hear from her!

Sessions will take place every first and third Saturday at 11:30 am EDT. Later in the fall, the second series, Nuclear Weapons: Health Intersections and Prohibition, will focus on the work of IPPNW. Stay tuned for some fantastic speakers and readings!

🕊️ VOICES FOR PEACE
The 81st anniversaries of the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki serve as grave reminders to us, as aspiring health professionals, that we must prevent what we cannot cure. We must abolish nuclear weapons before they abolish us.

This year and every year, IPPNW Students are Voices for Peace. Thank you Reimon Villanueva with UP Medical Students for Social Responsibility for the fantastic video and testimony from the Philippines!

Namkhai Bayasgalan, IPPNW International Student Representative, shares what 81 years since the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki means to him from in front of the Hiroshima Atomic Bomb Dome. The loss and pain caused by nuclear weapons will never be forgotten. We will make sure to carry these memories forward and work as voices for peace to ensure no one else experiences this suffering.

Our global network has been highly active on the world stage and at home the last few months!

We’ve sent dedicated youth delegations to advocate for health and peace at the World Health Assembly in Geneva, the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty Review Conference in New York, and the International Federation of Medical Students Associations General Assembly in Denmark.

Closer to home, our student chapters continue to drive change through educational campaigns, community outreach, and regional advocacy.
♻️IPPNW students in Nairobi organized the annual waste cleanup campaign and education program, and an art contest for peace!
🕺Medical students in Berlin are fundraising for asylum reform with a dance party
📚The Mongolia chapter is working on nuclear awareness
🎉And, we are so excited to celebrate the launch of a new chapter: Sudanese Medical Students for Social Responsibility Sudanese Medical Students for Social Responsibility!
