According to the U.S. Flag Code, when a flag is so damaged that it no longer can serve as a symbol of the country, it should be retired in a dignified way. The preferred method is burning it. But before doing that, you should shred the flag by separating the 13 stripes and leaving the blue spangled field intact

The City of Malden will be distributing free COVID Rapid Test Kits on Tuesday, January 4th from 4 PM to 7 PM at the Salemwood School (529 Salem St). Residents are asked to drive through the rear parking lot. Two boxes will be allowed for each household while supplies last. You must be a Malden resident to receive these free test kits.

After this event, we will make any remaining test kits available at City Hall (please call ahead) and for those who do not get a kit due to supplies running out, we will be offering a second wave of test kits roughly two weeks later.

This was passed along for us to share:

If you haven’t heard, on 12/15 Vicky Ortiz one of the adult troop leaders at the Saint Joseph’s Girls Scout on had a house fire destroying their home and displacing her Family. I wanted to share below information along with the go-fund me link, and I was hoping that you could share with the Troop letting everyone know and hopefully more people can help a scout in need during the holiday season.

Thankfully no one was hurt, and they got all of their pets out safely, but the house will need to be totally rebuilt, and because they are renters they will need to find another place to live. A friend from the Forestdale School started a Go Fund Me to help them.
