Educators and community supporters gathered for a forum on the North Shore Thursday night to discuss concerns including wages, benefits and school safety, as four local districts have soon-to-expire contracts just days before school begins.

When you’ve got crummy parental leave, when the employer is trying to force health insurance cuts, when they want you to work extra days for free, when they won’t put social workers in every school or pay teaching aides a living wage, or when new educators sick leave is under attack, what do Newton educators do?? Stand up strike back! 🪧

The two sides resumed negotiations with the help of a mediator Saturday morning and were at the table all day.
