Twisted Branch Aussie Ranch-TBAR Twisted Branch Aussie Ranch (TBAR) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit dog rescue group incorporated in Malakoff, Texas.

The dogs in our rescue live in the home with us as members of our family, and they sleep and eat indoors and run in the yard during the day. We feel that this is the best way for us to prepare these dogs for adoption and life with their new families, to teach them house manners and basic obedience training, and to get to fully know them so that we can make a proper placement.

I asked ChatGPT to design a quilt in the colors of Misty Blue, and this is what it came up with. So obviously, I have to try to make it. 😄

This is my latest quilt. I'm waiting on fabric to finish it up, and then it will be for sale. I'm going to put it on Etsy, unless you guys think I should auction this one off. This one has been a lot of fun.

I don't usually let dogs in my sewing room, but it rained all day yesterday so I made an exception. Glory is scared of storms, so she has to be wherever I am, and she hides under tables or desks. This was Conner's first time in the sewing room, and after he finally finished exploring and settled down, he was a very good boy. Now he knows what the noises coming from the other side of the house were.

I'm shocked. Not only did Misty Blue go outside in the rain, she ran around in it and came inside wet! To my knowledge, this is the first time this diva has ever gotten wet. And yes, that's my bed that she planted her pretty wet butt on, but since I'm changing bedding this morning, I don't care. So great to see her living a happy life and acting like a *gasp* dog. 😄

Quilt has been washed and dried to prevent colors from running, and is ready for a new home. I love the way they get all wrinkly and poofy after washing. It feels so good to run your hands over. Get those bids in!

I finished this beautiful quilt yesterday, and I would like to auction it off for the rescue. It's 55"x74", a twin size or large throw. 100% cotton with a fun batik print on the back. Made entirely by ME! This quilt happened by accident, as I found a stack of 2" strips left over from another project and decided to make some patchwork blocks. I liked them, so I had to make more patchwork blocks to have enough for a quilt, and then decided on the star blocks to break everything up. It's quilted in a double cross-hatch design that leaves the quilt soft and fluffy, perfect to cozy up with as the temperatures start to drop this fall (hopefully!).

I'm going to start the bidding at $150. Bid in $10 increments, and if interested, post a comment with your bid. This auction will run until midnight on Friday, September 25th. I'll cover the shipping, so get those bids in and get a beautiful, hand crafted heirloom while helping all the doggies here at TBAR!

OK, one more personal share. When I say I'm stronger, this is what I did with my spring. I built this entire garden by myself, with blood, sweat, and sometimes tears, and a whole lot of $$$. 😄 I assembled the raised beds, mixed the soils, filled them, put down cardboard and mulch on the ground on one side, and black plastic on the other. Once I got started, I just kept coming up with more ideas, and I couldn't stop! But this is now my little sanctuary, and the fact that I can grow a little food just makes it better. But man did it give me a workout. I think the total count was somewhere around 380 bags of soil and additives

How about an update, not on the dogs, but on me, their momma.

Happy 1 Year Soberversary to me! Tomorrow makes 1 year since I quit drinking. And in that year, I've gotten so much accomplished, both in the yard and in my body. I'm still fluffy, but I feel great, much stronger, with a bright outlook. No more depression and guilt from alcohol, and living a great life. In this last year, I have:

*Gotten my weight down from 200 to 185, and maintained it
*Gotten my blood pressure down from 137/72 to 120/60, same as it was in my 20's
*Reduced my A1C from 6.1 to a low 5.2 today. No more prediabetes!
*No more chronic back pain
*No psoriatic arthritis flares

I don't miss a thing. I drink more nonalcoholic b**r than I should, but it's my guilty pleasure and it's not having an adverse affect on my health. And as you can see from the pics I post, I am eating very well, more sweets than I should, but so far, the amount of physical activity I'm able to do now compensates for it. This is my new life, and it's giving me much more life, and longevity. Can't wait to see what the next year brings, with my babies here to cheer me on.
