Makoti's Little Free Library is a community service project by Vanessa Fransen. The Little Free Library is a place to share and exchange books, recipes, and other fun items. A Little Free Library is a “take a book, return a book” free book exchange. Vanessa is hoping to plant an apple tree or two inspired by "The Giving Tree", by Shel Silverstein. Vanessa would also like to replace and update the flowers, shrubs, and trees in the city park and add a butterfly garden. Be Inspired! is the slogan Vanessa has chosen as a slogan for this library project. She chose that saying for several reasons, this project is partly funded by the Disney Be Inspired Summer of Service grant she applied for and received. She hopes to inspire reading, learning, love of art, kindness, and community service.
We will be involving our 4H club the Mountrail Pioneers in this project and are planning a community service and fun event with them for the month of May. We also hope that other community members will join us and contribute to make this project a success. We will be brining a mobile library box / donation box to the school and 4H meetings and events, and also planning some fun events come spring and summer. Watch our page to learn more and keep up to day. We will be planning some fun play and reading events for summer.
Vanessa applied for and was granted a Disney Be Inspired - summer of service grant to inspire kids and families to make a positive impact in their communities. A portion of this project is funded from that grant money. Vanessa also applied for an Impact Library package from the Free Little Library organization and her application was accepted. The Free Little Library Impact funds will be providing us with a library kit, a free mounting post, a starter collection of books, and other information and resources.
