Interpretation of nature plays a significant role in eco-based tourism and is beneficial to tour operators, visitors, conservation groups, and the nature-based tourism economy. In 2013, through a grant with the Hawaiʻi Tourism Authority, the East Maui Watershed Partnership, Maui Forest Bird Recovery Project, and Maui Invasive Species Committee collaborated to develop the Maui Mauka Conservation Aw
areness Training. This training focuses on watersheds, native plants and birds, and invasive species. We aim to improve the quality of tour operators' environmental interpretation programs. We offer 4-6 three hour long training events per year. Over the past few years, we have reached 196 guides from 46 companies. 100% of attendees answered that this training was helpful to them. Keep up to date with us about new training events and educational sources and updates about conservation in Hawai'i.
