Celebrating Earth Day in the best way possible! šŸŒŽ

We partnered with a teacher and students from to plant 200 native plants 🌱 on campus. A big mahalo to our Field Crew Leader for teaching the kids about the importance of native plants and sharing the aloha.

The last few photos are of our crew prepping the site removing cane grass and fencing it from animals.

Together we accomplish more.šŸ«¶šŸ½

Our crew spent time the last two days helping other organizations. Pictured here both EMWP crew and .kahalawai visited the rare plant facility to help wash pots and exchange conservation ideas while admiring the rare plant beauties.

Yesterday the crew went to to help with debris clean up.

Being a part of a community is important and lending a helping hand when you can makes weathering the storm easier.

Rainy days are nothing new for our crew, but our thoughts are with everyone in Hawai'i preparing for severe weather. Stay safe, everyone.

This photo is from a few weeks ago when our crew had to get creative with a table to shield themselves from the rain while waiting for their helicopter pickup. Luckily, the weather cooperated that day and they made it home to their beds. It's not always that easy, though. They are always prepared for an unexpected night in the forest.

This photo is at the boundary fence up by Hosmer’s Grove. You can see the encroachment of pine trees. 🌲Pines have been actively managed inside the fence and efforts are now expanding below.

Introduced pine trees continue to spread across thousands of acres, altering soil, and increase fire risk. šŸ”„

If you look closely in the background you can see some of the pine trees that have been treated start to die off and turn brown.

The stunning stages and varied colors of Hawaii's native (endemic) Hydrangea, Broussaisia arguta, or Kanawao.

It's the sole species in its genus, making it a monotypic genus - a relatively uncommon occurrence.

Many native and introduced birds use them as a food source today.
