SICC Camp

SICC Camp SICC is a COMPLETELY FREE Youth Camp located in Southern Illinois. A board of seven directors oversees all camp activities, maintenance, and programs.

About the Camp
The SICC Christian Youth Camp was founded for the purpose of giving the salvation message of Jesus Christ to youth in the area. It is an affiliate of the Southern Illinois Christian Conference and has been holding camps since 1977. The camp is run solely by donations so that there is no cost for a child to attend day camp or overnight camp. The camp is also used throughout the year for revivals, retreats, family reunions, fundraisers and other special events.

💙 16 DAYS OF LABOR OF LOVE 🧡

Day 7: Service Is Ministry, Too. ❤️

When we think about ministry, we often picture preaching, teaching, singing, praying, or sharing the Gospel.

But sometimes ministry looks a little different.

Sometimes it looks like a paintbrush in your hand.
A broom sweeping a floor.
A hammer fixing what’s broken.
A rake clearing the grounds.
Or simply seeing something that needs to be done and saying, “I can help with that.”

Not everyone serves in the same way—and that’s a beautiful thing.

The work done during Labor of Love helps prepare and care for a place where so many other forms of ministry can happen.

You may never meet the person who benefits from the work you do—but your service can still be part of their story.

So bring your work gloves, your willing hands, and your heart to serve. ❤️

💙 16 DAYS OF LABOR OF LOVE 🧡

Day 6: Today’s Work. Tomorrow’s Memories. ❤️

During Labor of Love Weekend, it might just look like work.

A room being cleaned.
A wall getting a fresh coat of paint.
Grass being cut.
A repair finally getting finished.
A space being made ready again.

But someday soon, someone will walk into that same space and never know all the work that went into preparing it.

It might be where a camper makes a new best friend.

Where a church gathers together.

Where someone laughs until their stomach hurts, sings around a campfire, opens their Bible, prays with a friend, or hears something about Jesus that stays with them long after they leave.

The work may only take a few hours, but what happens here afterward can become a memory that lasts for years.

That’s why every helping hand matters. ❤️

💙 16 DAYS OF LABOR OF LOVE 🧡

Day 5: Small Jobs. Big Impact. ❤️

Sometimes the jobs that make the biggest difference don’t look very big at all.

A floor gets swept.
A room gets cleaned.
A flowerbed gets tended.
Something broken gets fixed.
A fresh coat of paint goes on a wall.

One little job may not seem like much on its own.

But put all of those little jobs together, and you’re helping care for a place where children come to camp, churches gather, friendships are made, memories are created, and the Gospel is shared.

That’s a pretty big impact for a little job. ❤️

At Labor of Love Weekend, you don’t have to accomplish something huge for your time to matter.

Come find one thing you can do—and let’s see what all of those little things can become when we do them together!

Small jobs. Helping hands. Big impact.

💙 16 DAYS OF LABOR OF LOVE 🧡

Day 4: Little Hands, Big Hands, Helping Hands Make Light Work! 🙌

There’s an old saying that many hands make light work—and Labor of Love Weekend is a pretty good example of that!

There’s no expectation for one person to come in and do everything. In fact, that’s the beauty of serving together.

One person can clean.
Someone else can paint.
Another can work outside.
Someone can carry supplies, organize, lend a hand on a project, or simply ask, “What can I do next?”

Little by little, job by job, things start getting done.

And when enough helping hands come together, something that may have seemed like a big project suddenly becomes a whole lot lighter. ❤️

So whether your hands are little, big, experienced, or brand new to this kind of work—there’s room for them at Labor of Love!

🙌 Many hands. One camp. One purpose.

💙 16 DAYS OF LABOR OF LOVE 🧡

Day 3: There’s a Place for You to Help

Sometimes we hear “work weekend” and immediately think:

“Well… I’m not a carpenter.”
“I don’t know how to fix anything.”
“What could I possibly help with?”

The answer is—more than you might think! ❤️

Labor of Love Weekend isn’t only for experienced builders or people who know their way around a toolbox. Caring for camp takes all kinds of helping hands.

There may be cleaning, organizing, outdoor work, painting, carrying supplies, helping with meals, simple projects, and plenty of other ways to lend a hand.

You don’t have to know how to do everything.

You just have to be willing to do something.

Whatever your skills, experience, or abilities may be, there’s a place for you to help.

🙌 Many hands. Different abilities. One purpose.

No experience needed, just a heart to serve. ❤️

💙 16 DAYS OF LABOR OF LOVE 🧡

Day 2: Caring for Camp Is a Labor of Love

There’s a lot that happens at SICC throughout the year—summer camps, retreats, church gatherings, mission work, and times of fellowship.

And behind all of it is a place that needs people willing to care for it. ❤️

Labor of Love Weekend isn’t simply about checking projects off a list. Every little job helps us care for a camp that God continues to use for ministry.

Maybe you can paint. Maybe you can clean, organize, work outside, make repairs, carry things, or simply lend another set of hands.

It all matters.

And when many people each give a little of their time, we can accomplish a whole lot together.

🙌 Many hands. One camp. One purpose.

❤️ 16 DAYS OF LABOR OF LOVE ❤️
Day 1 — What is Labor of Love Weekend?

September 4th–7th, people from all over will come together at SICC for something pretty simple:

To love our camp by serving it.

Labor of Love Weekend is a time set aside to tackle projects around camp, care for the grounds and facilities, and accomplish some of those jobs that are difficult to do without extra hands.

But it’s about more than getting a to-do list finished.

Every repair made, room cleaned, branch cleared, wall painted, or project completed helps prepare this camp for the people who will walk through its doors next.

Campers. Children. Teenagers. Churches. Mission teams. Retreat groups.

When we care for the camp, we’re helping care for the ministry that happens here.

And you don’t have to know how to build something or be an experienced handyman to help.

No experience needed—just a heart to serve. ❤️
