Good morning, Town of Maine!
Overnight, our parking lot was restriped to improve traffic flow, increase safety, and make the best use of our available space. The new layout consists of two single rows of parking with two driving lanes, which has also allowed us to gain additional parking spaces.
There are two important items we need to address:
๐ No Parking Means No Parking
The hashed areas throughout the parking lot are designated NO PARKING ZONES. This is not a suggestion or a courtesy requestโit is a mandatory restriction.
Our ambulances require significantly more room to maneuver than most people realize. Vehicles parked in these areas can delay emergency response times when seconds matter. The emergency delayed by an improperly parked vehicle could be for your family member, friend, neighbor, or loved one.
Please respect all parking markings and keep these areas clear at all times.
๐ School Pick-Up Traffic
To the parents and guardians who utilize our parking lot while waiting for buses to clear from Maine Memorial Elementary School:
Unfortunately, with the new parking lot configuration, our property can no longer be used as a staging or waiting area during student pick-up times. The new traffic pattern creates safety concerns when vehicles are stopped or waiting within the lot.
While we understand this may be an inconvenience, the parking lot is private property owned by Maine Emergency Squad, Inc., including the area adjacent to Dollar General. We respectfully ask that vehicles no longer use our lot to wait for school traffic or buses to clear.
๐ Property Boundary Clarification
We have received questions regarding where Maine Emergency Squad's property begins and ends. For clarification, our parking lot property includes all areas that were recently paved during the parking lot project. The property line between Maine Emergency Squad, Inc. and Maine Scoop is located at the edge of the newly paved area.
โ ๏ธ Private Property Notice
As the property owner, Maine Emergency Squad, Inc. reserves the right to have any vehicle removed or towed from the property when necessary. We sincerely hope this will never be required, and our goal is simply to maintain a safe and accessible environment for emergency operations.
We appreciate everyone's cooperation as we continue working to ensure our ambulances can respond quickly and safely when the community needs us most.
Thank you for your understanding and support.
