🎺✨ WOWO SECTION SPOTLIGHT: TRUMPETS! ✨🎺

Sound the trumpets for this week’s section spotlight!

We have an amazing trumpet section at White Oak Wind Orchestra, and we couldn’t be more proud of them! This talented group is led by our wonderful principal trumpet, retired Geoff Roberts, and co-principal Gabriel Austin, a Sam Houston State University graduate and band director at Veterans Memorial Intermediate.

Their talent, energy, and brilliant sound help bring our music to life at every rehearsal and performance. We are incredibly fortunate to have each of them as part of the WOWO family!

🎶 **WOWO Section Spotlight: Double Reeds!** 🎶

Today we’re highlighting our incredible
Double Reed Section — Oboes & Bassoons!

We are extremely proud to have such a talented group of musicians as part of the White Oak Wind Orchestra.

Leading our oboe section is our Concertmaster, Luc Butler**. Luc is a UIL and state award-winning musician and is currently pursuing a degree in music at Sam Houston State University. His musicianship and leadership are a tremendous asset to WOWO.

Our Principal Bassoonist, Lydia is also an accomplished UIL and award-winning bassoonist who brings outstanding talent and musicianship to our ensemble.

We are incredibly proud and honored to have such a strong double reed section. Their unique sound, musicianship, and dedication add so much to the White Oak Wind Orchestra!

Behind every note played by the White Oak Wind Orchestra is a person with a story.

Our members come from different generations, professions, communities, and musical backgrounds. We are students discovering what is possible, educators passing along their passion, working professionals making time for the arts, and lifelong musicians proving that music never has an age limit.

Every musician brings something important to WOWO. Each rehearsal attended, note practiced, chair arranged, instrument carried, and helping hand offered contributes to something much greater than any one individual.

That is the power of a community wind ensemble. We create a place where musicians continue learning beyond the classroom, build friendships across generations, and share meaningful music with the people around us. Together, we keep the arts alive, inspire future musicians, and remind our community that music has the ability to connect us all.

We may come from different places, but when we sit down together, breathe together, and play together, we become one ensemble with one shared purpose.

This is more than a band. This is our community—and every member makes a difference.

They’re the heartbeat of the orchestra—keeping us in rhythm, in tempo, and driving the energy behind every performance.

Our percussion section is led by our outstanding Principal Chair, Christian Inman, a graduate of the Royal Academy of Music in the UK. 🇬🇧🎶

From the most delicate moments to the biggest cinematic hits, this section brings incredible musicianship and energy to WOWO!
