The mission of the program is to improve the quality of life in the community by developing leaders who will recognize, address, and find solutions to critical issues. Participants must have the “qualities of a good leader” – the sense of personal responsibility, willingness to sacrifice one’s own interest for the welfare of others, courage to set the tone for action through personal example and t
o accept, understand and overcome challenges. Subjects include government, quality of life, education, health care, economy, human services, industry technology, and community heritage. Leadership Magnolia seeks to identify and motivate both existing and potential community leaders with community needs, problems, and opportunities. Participants are given the opportunity to enhance their leadership skills, learn more about their community, and build civic networks. Applicants should be prepared to devote one day per month (for ten months) to the program, beginning in August and continuing through May. The success of this program will depend on full participation by the individuals. Those who are unable to make this commitment should not apply. Leadership Magnolia tuition is $450 per individual. Partial scholarships may be available for those who qualify for financial assistance.
