This time of year is wonderful- but for some it is extremely hard. Many people are the first in their family to choose themselves and with that sometimes comes having to cut off the family you were raised in.
We see you. You are strong, loved, and valuable. May this season bring you closer to your chosen family and those who love and accept you for you.
Some of us are the first in our families to question what we were taught, to see the world through a wider lens, to go to therapy, to come out, to raise our kids differently, or to break harmful cycles that have been passed down for generations.
If that’s you, please take a moment and really let it sink in:
✨ You are doing brave, generational work.
✨ You are choosing healing over habit.
✨ You are choosing truth over comfort.
✨ You are choosing love over fear.
And none of that is easy.
Being the first often means moving through uncharted territory. It can mean confusion, pushback, loneliness, and growing pains. But it also means you are the one opening doors that needed to be opened. You are creating possibilities for those who come after you—your children, your family, your community.
So please stop for a moment and recognize the strength it has taken to get where you are.
There is nothing easy about this.
