If you are in a crisis: 1-800-273-TALK And he said these girls never made fun of him again.

Madison Holleran was a 2013 HS graduate of Northern Highlands, where she excelled in academics as well as being arguably north Jersey's top female athlete... She was incredibly popular, her classmates say, mainly because she was always quick with a smile and was genuinely personable...

One of Madison's classmates told a story where he was held back in the 1st grade, then had to deal with kids mak

ing fun of him. He had new 1st grade classmates, and every day he said he had to pass this bunch of girls in the morning and he said they would always laugh at him... He said one day Madison came up and told the girls to stop. He said he was surprised to see Madison do that. They remained best friends throughout school...

"This is all you need to know about Madison Holleran." Madison was a member of the Northern Highlands '12 and '13 undefeated soccer teams and played a huge role in the team's success. A standout in both soccer and tennis, Madison decided to pursue her running, where she was one of the top athletes in the state. Madison was the NJ State Champion in the 800m in 2013. Madison's signed on with the University of Pennsylvania, where she had a double major and ran for one of the top programs in the country. On 1/17/14, Madison Holleran took her own life in Philadelphia. She was 19 years old. This page was created by a volunteer from the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention who read about Madison's story. Today, the site is run by a few of Madison's friends and volunteers from AFSP. "AFSP does more than just raise money. We need to raise awareness and make help available." If you are in crisis, please click on any of the links in the page. If you have lost a loved one to suicide, please contact [email protected] or call (212) 363-3500 x2035. You can also contact your local AFSP local coordinator to request a visit. If you would like to donate to the AFSP, please go to Heather Ford's fundraising page that is linked on here, or go to the UPenn Track & Field fundraising page. All of these donations are directly given to the AFSP as it is their own site. In the websites section, you can see all of the AFSP-linked fundraisers and HELP for those who are in need. Thank you. All of you. On what would’ve been Maddy’s 30th birthday, your outpouring of support—your kind birthday wishes, your donations to our organization—has left us truly overwhelmed with gratitude. Your generosity and love mean the world.

We also wanted to share a special story that was sent to us recently. Maddy’s best friend, Emma, wanted to honor Maddy’s milestone birthday in a meaningful way. Since Emma’s 30th came just one day before Maddy’s, she set herself a goal: run a marathon in under 3 hours. And not only did Emma crush that goal, but she met a girl along the way, and ended up running 10 miles together, sharing stories, and encouraging each other. When it was time to part ways, Emma asked the girl her name. And of course, her name was Maddy. 💜 Our girl was with her the whole time.

We are so grateful for the love, support, and the beautiful ways Maddy’s memory continues to shine. Happy 30th birthdays, Maddy and Emma.
