Congratulations to Ryan Wells, our Magnolia Specialized Services Fellow, on being recognized as VISTA of the Month! 👏🎉

This month, Ryan dedicated his time to researching grant opportunities, developing fundraising ideas, creating employee and volunteer resources, and researching effective volunteer recruitment strategies. He also worked on building sustainable systems and resources that will continue to support Magnolia Specialized Services in the future. From researching potential grants and fundraisers to developing a volunteer guide and employee handbook, Ryan has gone above and beyond to strengthen the organization and its future impact. 💙

We’re excited to announce that Southern Arkansas University has been selected as a 911day Grant recipient!

This fall, SAU VISTA members and volunteers will join communities across the country in honoring the 25th Anniversary of 9/11 by participating in 9/11 Day, a national movement dedicated to turning a day of remembrance into a day of service.

As Volunteers in Service to America (VISTA), we are proud to serve the wonderful Magnolia community and work alongside those making a difference every day. We had a great time celebrating with our community at the Wings of Magnolia event and are grateful for the opportunity to connect with so many wonderful people.

Congratulations to our VISTA of the Month Logan Pierson! May was a month of building strong foundations for the future of the SAU Band Program! 🎶

This month, efforts focused on creating sustainable systems that will support students, staff, and the program for years to come. Work began on equipment maintenance documentation, inventory tracking processes, and improved workflows for student workers to help ensure smooth daily operations and long-term continuity.
Significant progress was also made in recruitment and student engagement through the exploration and development of content within MusicWindow. New strategies and resources are being designed to better connect with prospective students, communicate scholarship opportunities, and track engagement more effectively. Additionally, outreach and communication tools are being researched to strengthen connections with students, supporters, and the broader community.
By investing in organization, communication, and student success, we're helping create a stronger future for the SAU Band Program—one system at a time. 🎺🥁🎼

We had an incredible time welcoming our new Summer Associates! ☀️

Today, 121 amazing volunteers stepped up to serve our campus and community over the next 10 weeks. From supporting local programs to building meaningful connections, these Summer Associates will be doing all kinds of impactful work as we continue the mission of eliminating poverty in Magnolia.
We’re excited to see the difference they’ll make this summer! 💙

Help me congratulate Rayland Ross as our April VISTA of the month. This past month has been a whirlwind of activity at the SAU Community Garden. Some recent activity include:

Infrastructure Improvements: Completed the livestock enclosure for our garden ducks and chickens.

Sustainable Growth: Managed greenhouse systems and hydroponics to ensure a steady supply of fresh produce for students.

Community Outreach: Hosted sustainability workshops and supported local partners like Magnolia Arts and CCAPS.

Student Engagement: Organised produce sales and seed giveaways to increase food access on campus.

Thank you Rayland for your hard work! We couldn’t sustain the garden without you!🪴🪏👨‍🌾🌱
