LIGHTNING IN THE BACKFIELD: Jemijah Marshall is South Arkansas’ Best Kept Secret

Magnolia, AR — Blink, and you’ll miss him.

At 5’7”, 145 pounds, Jemijah Marshall doesn’t look like the guy who keeps defensive coordinators up at night. Then the ball gets snapped.

The Magnolia senior running back pairs 4.4 speed with the kind of wiggle that makes tacklers grab air. Last season he earned All-State honors after torching defenses for 1,250 yards and 12 TDs.

“He’s elusive. Can fly,” says Coach Kirby. And the film backs it up.

Marshall doesn’t do quiet nights. Against De Queen,he needed just 11 carries to rack up 204 yards and 4 touchdowns. The next week at Hope? 6 carries, 110 yards, 3 TDs. That’s 314 yards and 7 scores on 17 touches. Video game numbers.

But he’s not just a runner. In the opener vs. Nashville, Marshall slipped out of the backfield and hauled in a 33-yard touchdown, proving he’s a nightmare for linebackers in coverage too. Hands, speed, vision — he’s a complete weapon.

In a region known for tough, physical football, Marshall brings a different element: suddenness. One cut, one seam, and he’s gone.

This fall, the Panthers have a home-run hitter every time he touches the ball. If you’re anywhere near South Arkansas on a Friday night, grab a ticket.
