All Washed Up Magnolia Beach Reptile Rescue Saving our wildlife for future generations to enjoy and appreciate TexasWild, previously Pencilata's is run directly out of my home.

My family graciously lives in an animal rescue facility...literally. I have a cot that I sleep in my living area with numerous aquariums filled with different wildlife babies. Feedings occur as often as every 4 hours depending on the age of the baby. And it is not just babies we take care of. It is also the injured wildlife..the ones that are hit by cars...ripped up by dogs....its' heartbreaking a

t best. But I do my best to patch and heal to send back out to nature where they belong. The babies are introduced gradually to their nature home and get ready to adjust to their new mom.....mother nature as quickly and easily as possible to avoid any unnecessary human imprinting.

Anyone in need of feeder rats or mice? Some very pretty colors for pets as well. Mice are $2 and rats are $5. Thank you!

Hi everyone. Hope y'all are fairing well. Sorry about the lack of posting, but Harvey held us up for awhile.
The mission at our reptile rescue is to help injured from the wild or re-home reptiles that can no longer be kept by the owner. Questions are welcome and we will do our best to answer them or refer you to someone that can.
We do reserve the right to refuse a reptile do to size, toxicity, or that we are just too full.
And please remember that reptiles as do all animals serve a purpose. Folks see a snake on the road and purposely try to run it over. And why? That one snake consumes so many rats, mice and vermin. They are actually doing us a favor. And most reptiles want nothing to do with humans.
So if you see that lazy snake sunning, the turtle crossing the road, or that alligator sitting in drainage ditch.....just leave them be. Most of the time if we mind our business , they will mind theirs. Thanks everyone. I look forward to hearing from you.

Here's what happened to me last night. If you don't snicker I;ll be surprised!
First of all I am the proud owner of 4 Albino clawed frogs. Each frog measuring a little over an inch without the legs included. I keep them on the ledge of my garden tub and when I soak after a long day, I find them quite entertaining.
Well the little freaks do get dirty and I keep them in a 5 gallon take in which they seem very happy. I find it's easier to put my frogs in my bathroom sink when I clean their home and let them flop around while I dump their nasty bathwater down the tub drain.(I assure you I bleach my tub before bathing!) Anyhow the drain in my tub has broken which means there is no kind of protective screen. All the nasties easily wash down the drain and the entire job takes maybe 5 minutes.
Last night I did as I always did and after cleaning the froggy palace I set it back on the side of the tub. One by one I gathered my frogs and put them back in the clean water. Blueberry had to be an as***le and jumped into the tub. Right away I knew...I just knew...and down the drain he went. After a few choice cuss words and much remorse I call my daughter in and evaluate the situation. Blueberry was not coming back on his own and I guess most folks would've have just let things be and he'd ended up in the septic tank. Well, not yours truly! I was not going to let go of him without a fight!
I asked Kyle to go get the shop vac. Now mind you I don't advocate this as a normal method in which to save any animal but I had only two options. Try that or let him sink further down.
My daughter plugged in the shop vac and I flipped the switch as I placed it over the open drain. In seconds there was a "Floop Floop sound going through the tube. I shut the shop vac on and we removed the cover. There in some dirty water was a very unhappy, uninjured blueberry!
Needless to say I have learned a very valuable lesson. Cover the freakin' tub drain before cleaning your frogs!
