It is with a heavy heart and profound disappointment that, after 25 years of serving the Magna community, Magna FACT will be closing its doors indefinitely on November 1, 2026.
For a quarter of a century we have poured our hearts and souls into providing food, clothing, Thanksgiving dinners, Sub 4 Santa, and life-changing resources to our community. It has become impossible to continue under our current situation.
Over this past year we have faced endless obstacles, such as ongoing parking disputes across the street that have resulted in our patrons being ticketed and selfless volunteers have faced repeated disrespect. These situations have brought conflict with Unified Police officers and county officials. On top of this our building's owner plans to sell the property.
We are devastated that it has come to this and we apologize from the bottom of our hearts for the hardship and inconvenience our absence will cause to the families in this community who depend on us.
Magna FACT has never been just an organizationβit has been Kathy Webbβs life. Since founding Magna FACT Inc. in 2001, Kathy gave up everything for this mission, even letting go of her own flower shop so she could focus entirely on those in need. Her dear friend Norm Fitzgerald joined her in the early years and together they poured boundless love and time into this community. When Norm passed away in 2012, Kathy carried the mantle forward fighting tirelessly every single day for the past 14 years to protect this resource and keep the doors open against every obstacle thrown her way.
Unlike other organizations that receive millions of dollars in institutional funding, Magna FACT is not one of them. Kathy ran this pantry solely on volunteer labor, community donations, and her own willingness to ask for every single dollar just to keep the lights on. She loves Magna more than anything, and it is truly heartbreaking that after so much sacrifice, this is how our chapter ends.
For community members who will need support moving forward, we urge you to reach out to 211 on your phone and well-funded organizations like Magna United CTC, which have been awarded over $2 million dollars in grants to provide local aid for Magna.
After 25 years, our greatest hope is that Magna will never forget Kathy, her family and volunteers sacrifices, Normβs memory, and the immense love that built these walls. To every volunteer, donor, and neighbor who stood by us through thick and thin thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We could never have made it this far without you.
God bless you all. π«Ά
