How does one eloquently put into words the events of the last 24 hours as we mark the 24th anniversary of the tragic murders that occurred on September 11th, 2001. Today, as we have done as Magna for the last 20 years beginning in 2005 at the Veterans Park, we reflect on, remember, and applaud the heroic efforts of those involved at Ground Zero this very day. At least today, once a year, we remember the victims of 9/11 and the victim's pulse 9/11 who through their valiant recovery efforts gave their lives unknowingly as they tackled the toxic debris to bring some measure of closure to the families and friends in locating as many victims remains as they could and still continue to do so today.
Let us take a moment of pause today in remembrance of those who lost their lives, and the destruction of sacred places in:
WTC North Tower
WTC South Tower
American Airlines Flight 11
United Airlines 175
American Airlines Flight 77
Pentagon
United Airlines Flight 93
WTC Building 7
St. Nicholas Geek Orthodox Church
Let us especially remember the firefighters, police, EMS who lost their lives in efforts to save others on that day and and from the effects of the toxic fallout since that day. We also remember the survivors, many who also perished years later from the fallout.
Also, many thanks to UFA 102 and 111, UPD Magna, and all of our active and retired military in Magna. God be with you always.
"When Americans lend a hand to one another, nothing is impossible. We're not about what happened on 9/11. We're about what happened on 9/12." ~ Robert Reeg, FDNY (Ret.), Engine 44
