Utah Valley is being asked to consider an 8-10 mile bridge across Utah Lake as part of the MAG 2027-2055 Regional Transportation Plan.

But, Utah Lake is a keystone ecosystem that provides critical wildlife habitat, recreational opportunities, and invaluable ecosystem services like removing pollution and creating local precipitation.

The project could pollute the lake, trigger algal blooms, disrupt natural hydrological flow, and threaten wildlife & recreation.

Help us by submitting a public comment expressing your concerns about the proposal by Wednesday, June 3.

BREAKING: A Box Elder County attorney rejected the citizen referendum applications seeking to overturn approval for the Stratos Project.

According to the county, the applications aren’t legally feasible because the resolutions approving the project were administrative actions, not legislative actions—and therefore not subject to referendum under Utah Election Code.

The rejection is a significant setback for residents who hoped to bring approval of the Stratos Project directly to Box Elder County voters, but a referendum is not the only avenue for public oversight. The Stratos Project still faces major permitting, water, air quality, and political hurdles, and your involvement will be critical in shaping what happens next.

The referendum sponsors have the option to appeal the determination in district court.

Frustration over this ruling should not be directed at county employees. Verbal attacks, act of violence, threats, and other acts directed towards any public officials will not be condoned and should not be pursued as the public continues to voice their opposition to the Stratos Project.

Brenna Williams, sponsor of the Box Elder citizens’ referendum, has lived in Box Elder County for 20 years.

Brenna shares the same concerns as many Utahns: the proposed Stratos Project could affect our water supply, wildlife, air quality, and way of life.

Those concerns sparked action. What started as a Facebook post turned into a movement of more than 2,500 volunteers working to help protect Great Salt Lake and Hansel Valley from this proposed project.

If you want to help protect your home, your community, and Great Salt Lake, you can help too.

After a successful public forum in Salt Lake City last week, we realized we couldn't stop at one. You had more questions—and so did we.

The proposed data center in Box Elder County is facing mounting public scrutiny over its unprecedented scale, fast-tracked approval process, and unknown impacts. If built, it would be the largest data center project in the world and require more than double the energy currently used by the entire state of Utah.

The “Stratos Project” has raised serious concerns about water demand, energy use, wildlife habitat destruction, public subsidies, air quality, climate pollution, and impacts to the Great Salt Lake basin—but many key questions remain unanswered.

Join Grow the Flow, Stewardship Utah, and the Box Elder Accountability Referendum (BEAR) to learn more about the proposed project, hear from local voices and experts, and discuss what transparency, public oversight, and accountability should look like moving forward.

Just kidding, 40,000-acre data centers don’t belong in Utah.

The proposed “Stratos Project” in Box Elder County could become the largest data center development in the world—requiring more than double the energy currently used by the entire state of Utah.

Projects like this don’t just exist in isolation. Massive developments can impact water demand, air quality, wildlife habitat, energy systems & the future of Great Salt Lake basin.

Thousands of people across the state recently filed formal protests against the project’s first water rights application, raising concerns about transparency, long-term impacts & responsible decision-making.

The developers plan to refile & that means public involvement still matters.

Thousands of Utahns filed formal protests against the Stratos Project’s first water rights application. It became one of the largest public protest responses to a water filing in recent Utah history.

The protest campaign transformed what is typically a rarely-challenged technical administrative review into a highly visible statewide issue.

Swipe through to learn why your protest was effective, and what you can continue to do to help.
