MNA - District 11

Happy late Nurses week!! We at MNA District 11 are proud to be part of such a special field. We are nurses, advocates, listeners, hand holders, organizers, life savers. We, as nurses, hold many hats!! We would love for YOU to try us out at our next meeting and join us in representing Simpson and Smith counties! We will be posting as soon as we can with an update on when that will be!

In the past, we have found different service projects to serve the nurses of Simpson and Smith counties during nurses week. This year, we did something a little different. For those of you who aren’t aware, our local Copiah Lincoln Community College Simpson county center has a new LPN-RN bridge program! We coordinated with CoLin and awarded a scholarship to a lucky recipient…Traci Dunaway!

Due to unforeseen circumstances, we are having to move our meeting tonight.
We cannot apologize enough for the confusion and last minute change.

We have a date change!!!! Our meeting will take place TUESDAY April 14th at Accent Care office in Magee! It is just down the strip from McAlisters!
Y’all, PLEASE come when you can! We look forward to a night of fellowship with nurses who are looking to plug in and grow our local chapter, passionate about advocating for the nurses of Mississippi! Whether or not this is your first time or it’s been a while, we would love to see you there!

Hello! My name is Lisa Hankins and I am the MNA District 11 Secretary/Treasurer. I have been a nurse for 43 years. I currently work as a case manager at MS Baptist Medical Center. I am married to my husband, Michael and have five grandchildren who I absolutely adore! I joined MNA about 10 years ago. Being MNA gives me a voice in very important matters and I have learned so much! Come join us in the fun!!!

My name is Tara Cranfield and I am the MNA District 11 Vice President! I have been a nurse for 4 years. I currently work in home health. I am married to my husband, Joe, and have two kids, Lucas and Lainey. We also have two dogs, Lilo and Sully. I was born and raised in Simpson County, so being able to work and serve this community in so many ways has been very rewarding for me. I joined MNA when I moved back home, looking for more community in nursing besides just work. I have found that, but also friends, supporters, coworkers, and people to live life with. I love the group we have, but look forward to seeing our District grow!!

1. Never shake a hand while sitting.

2. Never talk bad about the food when you are the guest.

3. Don't eat the last piece of something you didn't buy.

4. Protect who is behind you and respect who is beside you.

5. Never make the first offer in a negotiation.

6. Don't take credit for the work you didn't do.

7. Dress well, no matter what the occasion.

8. Speak honestly: say what you think and mean what you say.

9. Ask more than you answer.

10. Leave the profane language for the less educated.

11. Avoid placing your phone on the table when eating with someone.

12. Listen, smile and most of all make eye contact.

13. If you're not invited, don't ask to go.

14. Never be ashamed of where you come from.

15. Don't beg for a relationship.
