We would like to personally extend our appreciation to the Driggs Community for being highly aware of the current drought situation and following the burn ban that is in place. We love our Community and worry every minute of each day about anything that could spark and start a fire. We do not want to see anyone lose their life or their property. Please stay vigilant in the current situation to avoid starting a fire. Put ci******es out in water(a water bottle filled halfway works great), make sure if you are working with equipment to keep some sort of water container or water hose close in case of a spark, and as dry as we are, even a broken piece of glass with the suns rays shining on it just right can start a fire. These small showers are hit and miss and lightning can strike causing a fire. As always, thank you for your support. Remember to call 911 if you see something. We are still not seeing any moisture for awhile but still praying for rain. Have a safe day!!!

We are very pleased to announce our newest equipment addition. Thor! Now you may wonder, what on earth is a Thor? Let me talk a little about our equipment. All the volunteers on the Department treasure each piece of equipment we receive. We do our best to keep each piece of equipment maintained and in good working order, ready to respond at a moments notice, to keep you, your family and your property safe. Our trucks are assigned numbers; 601, 602, 603, 604, and 605, but because of our dedication to this equipment and to our community, each truck has their own name. 601 is the Green Hornet, 602 is the Dodge, 603 is Thor, 604 is Big Foot and 605 is Lil Foot.
With that being said, we applied for a grant and was awarded Thor. Thor will be a brush truck for the Driggs Fire Department. We have equipped Thor with a 300 gallon slip on unit with foam capabilities to add to our fleet. We are very proud of our newest addition and want to thank each of our community members for your support and dedication that enables us to keep upgrading our equipment. Attached are photos of 603(Thor) and some of the volunteers that have worked hard and quickly to get it online and workable for this severe drought.
Please stay safe, situationally aware for sparks, smoke, or fire, and as always.....you see something, say something(call 911) and report it asap.

Folks, we are dry and I do mean dry. One spark and we could have serious problems! Couple that with a little wind, low humidities and high temperatures and the fire could become very serious.
All of Logan County Fire Departments have experienced fires in the past couple of weeks. One in particular I would like to talk about. A person, not on a fire department, drove through smoke on the highway and hit a fire truck. No injuries occurred, damage to both vehicles, but no one was hurt. We have to park our trucks on the side of the road to fight the fire on occasion. So please, please drive slowly and cautiously when smoke is blowing across the road and fire equipment and personnel are present. We are doing our best to keep our community safe and no one wants to watch one of our own be carried away in an ambulance. Stay safe and always watchful. Thank you and have a good safe weekend..

Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders has declared a state of emergency due to raging wildfires in the state.

Please be extremely careful. This is a severe drought and any spark can cause a fire. Always be aware of the following:
1) In dry conditions like we are experiencing a cigarette thrown out of the vehicle window into the dead grass can start a fire,
2) Safety chains dragging from the vehicle to the trailer can spark(saw this twice on two different vehicles within 30 minutes on Hwy 109 two weeks ago at night),
3) We are in a burn ban but some people have been burning trash anyway, please don't. If you set a fire and it burns someone else's property you could be heavily fined and pay the cost for the adjacent lost property,
4) Do not shoot fireworks!

Always be on alert with equipment and vehicles, in these conditions place your ci******es in an ashtray or water and ensure they are completely out before discarding, and as always if you see smoke or fire......report it immediately to the Logan County Dispatch so it can be taken care of as soon as possible. 479-963-3271 ext. 2.

What an awesome Fire District the Driggs Fire Department has. We are still under a BURN BAN!!!!! Everyone has done an outstanding job of NOT starting a fire for any reason. Keep up the excellent work and continue to pray for rain and cooler temperatures.

Extreme heat is here and grass is gone,
Creeks, ponds and soil is dry,
Don't think you are alone,
What we need we can't buy.
Rain will come
Cooler temps too
Praying we get some
At least a heavy dew!!!

Logan county is now under a burn ban.

Being in a burn ban means if you decide to burn something and the Fire Department is sent, we have NO OPTION but to extinguish the fire. You could also receive a citation from the Logan County Sheriffs Department and if the Department of Forestry has to respond you could also receive a citation from them as well.
Folks it is really dry in the Driggs response area. Low humidities and wind could cause major damage and property loss, not just yours but also your neighbors.
Stay hydrated, cool, check on family and friends, fresh water and a cool environment for pets.
