Sheriff James Lee Berrong said the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is investigating an officer involved shooting that occurred this evening.

Shortly after 8:30 p.m., deputies responded to the call of a 38-year-old woman who was asking for the FBI and other law enforcement and threatening to kill anyone who showed up at her residence on Creason Drive. When deputies arrived, the woman advanced toward them with the knife making threats. Three deputies fired their duty weapons, striking the woman. The deputies rendered aid to the woman and she was taken by AMR Ambulance Service to Blount Memorial Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The three deputies are currently on administrative leave with pay while TBI investigates.

🚔 It’s About Being a Servant 🚔

Not everything in police work involves chasing down bad guys or writing reports. It’s about being a servant to the citizens you’re sworn to protect.

This picture, unknown to them, was taken this afternoon of Patrolman Blaine Kennedy and Patrolman Brad Hunt helping a citizen change a tire on the side of the road.

It may seem like a small act, but sometimes it’s these moments that truly make an impact not only on that person’s day, but on ours as well.

Thank you, men, for your service and for representing the Madisonville Police Department with compassion and a servant’s heart. 🇺🇸

📢 BIG NEWS FOR TELLICO! 📢

The Tellico Convenience Center is moving to a new location!

Our last day at 711 Bank Street will be Saturday, August 29, and we’ll be open from 8:00 AM–12:00 PM that day.

We’ll be closed Monday, August 31 while we make the move.

Then, on Tuesday, September 1, we’ll be ready to welcome you at our NEW LOCATION! 🎉
