We are so amazed at how our community keeps pulling together to help this ministry. A very special thank you to the ones who put in the sweat and labor to install the HVAC system at Nehemiah’s Gate. In a very special, thank you to the one who spearheaded this project. We received an AC unit as well as a furnace completely donated as well as the install installation labor. God is so good!!

The City of Madisonville, KY for her exceptional service helping us make a smooth transition for electrical service to be put in Nehemiah’s Gate name!

It’s official! Electrical has been inspected, work order has been placed and meter will be dropped this afternoon!

We want to thank everyone who’ve helped us make it to this point. Our prayer warriors, social supporters, financial donors and for the ones who put time, sweat and labor. We couldn’t have done it without you!

This has been a long time in the waiting, being faithful to the Lord timing! We are one step closer to opening our doors to help men returning from incarceration who are serious about their walk with Jesus! Stay tuned, there is more to come!

Next on the list, we have a brand new HVAC that has been donated as well as installation!

To all of our new followers — thank you.

Over the last several days, many of you have followed the Nehemiah’s Gate page, and we are truly grateful.

Nehemiah’s Gate has not opened yet, but the vision is being built one step at a time. We are preparing a place where men coming out of incarceration can be discipled, supported, and connected to the local community as they rebuild their lives with purpose.

Every follow, like, share, comment, and prayer helps us spread the vision and build momentum before the doors open.

Thank you for believing in what God is building through Nehemiah’s Gate. Your support matters, and we are excited to bring you along as this work continues to take shape.

This morning I had the privilege of joining a group of men from First Baptist Church, in Madisonville for their weekly prayer gathering.

What impacted me most was the faithfulness of it.

Every Tuesday morning, these men gather with names that have been placed on a prayer list or dropped into a prayer box. Some are names they know. Some may be names they have never heard before. But each name represents a real person, a real family, and a real need being brought before the Lord.

As the founder of Nehemiah’s Gate, this deeply encouraged me. We believe lives are rebuilt through Christ, through community, and through faithful obedience — and this morning I was reminded that prayer is often where rebuilding begins.

It was an honor to stand with brothers in the faith and pray over our church families, our neighbors, and our community.

Thank you to the men of First Baptist Church for allowing me to join you this morning.

The cell is quiet.

For the first time in a long time, there are no distractions. No running. No hiding. No numbing.

Just you… and the wreckage your choices have left behind.

The guilt is heavy.

The shame is suffocating.

You replay the same mistakes over and over in your mind. Relationships destroyed. Opportunities wasted. Trust broken. Freedom lost.

You feel powerless to change.

Hopeless.

And then something unexpected happens.

In the middle of that brokenness, God begins to draw near.

Not with condemnation.

Not with rejection.

With an invitation.

You begin asking questions you never cared about before.

“Who is Jesus really?”

You open a Bible.

You pray.

You seek.

And somewhere between the concrete walls and sleepless nights, you encounter Him.

Not religion.

Not church culture.

Him.

For the first time, your soul comes alive.

A hunger begins to grow.

A thirst you can’t explain.

You want to know Him more.

You want your life to change.

You want to become the man God created you to be.

Then release day comes.

The gate opens.

And suddenly a new question appears.

Now what?

Where do you go when all you want is more of Jesus?

Who walks beside you when temptation comes?

Who teaches you how to renew your mind?

Who helps you learn to work, lead, manage money, build healthy relationships, and live with purpose?

Who helps you become the man you saw yourself becoming while you were behind those walls?

Too many men leave with a changed heart but no place to continue growing.

No discipleship.

No brotherhood.

No direction.

No one to help bridge the gap between prison and purpose.

That gap is where many fall.

And that is exactly why Nehemiah’s Gate exists.

Because salvation is the beginning of the journey—not the end.

Every man deserves the opportunity to keep growing after the gate opens.

Nehemiah’s Gate sits at a crossroads.

On one side are men returning to the community — men coming out of incarceration, instability, brokenness, and old patterns of life.

On the other side is the local body of Christ — believers who have been given a clear command by Jesus:

“Go therefore and make disciples…” — Matthew 28:19

Nehemiah’s Gate exists where those two roads meet.

It is not just about providing a place for men to live.

It is about creating a place where men can be discipled, restored, equipped, and sent back into their families and communities as mighty men of God.

For the men, Nehemiah’s Gate is a doorway into structure, brotherhood, accountability, healing, purpose, and a deeper walk with Jesus.

For the Church, Nehemiah’s Gate is an opportunity to live out the Great Commission in a very real and local way — not only by reaching men with the gospel, but by walking with them as they learn to follow Christ.

Jesus did not simply command His people to make converts.

He commanded us to make disciples.

That means teaching.
Walking together.
Bearing burdens.
Building faith.
Restoring identity.
Helping men become rooted, grounded, and fruitful in Christ.

Nehemiah’s Gate is being built to stand in that gap.

A gate between incarceration and restoration.

A gate between brokenness and discipleship.

A gate between men who need a path forward and a Church called to help them walk it.

This is more than a reentry effort.

This is kingdom discipleship.

This is the local body of Christ rising up to help rebuild what has been broken.

What is Nehemiah’s Gate?

Nehemiah’s Gate is a Christ-centered discipleship house for men who are ready to rebuild their lives from the inside out.

It is not simply a program.

It is a place of structure, accountability, brotherhood, healing, discipleship, and purpose.

The name comes from the book of Nehemiah, where the walls of Jerusalem were broken down and the gates had been burned. The city was exposed, vulnerable, and in need of restoration. But when Nehemiah saw the brokenness, he did not turn away from it. He wept. He prayed. He planned. Then he called the people to rise and build.

That is the heart of Nehemiah’s Gate.

We see men who have walked through broken places — incarceration, addiction, shame, instability, spiritual confusion, and the weight of past decisions — and we believe their story is not over.

Through biblical discipleship, life skills, job training, mentorship, mental health support, and a strong Christ-centered community, Nehemiah’s Gate exists to help men rebuild what has been broken and become who God has called them to be.

A gate represents access.

For many men, there has been no clear path forward. Nehemiah’s Gate is being built to create access to a new way of life — access to discipleship, access to brotherhood, access to responsibility, access to healing, access to purpose, and most importantly, access to a deeper walk with Jesus Christ.

A gate also represents protection.

We want to foster an environment where men are covered, challenged, sharpened, and surrounded by people who will not simply feel sorry for them, but will walk with them as they learn to stand again.

And a gate represents transition.

The goal is not for a man to stay stuck at the gate. The goal is for him to walk through it — restored, equipped, and prepared to lead his life, love his family, serve his community, and impact generations.

Nehemiah’s Gate is about more than helping men stay out of jail.

It is about helping men become mighty men of God.

It is about rebuilding families.

It is about strengthening our community.

It is about discipleship that produces lasting fruit.

We believe God is still in the business of rebuilding broken places.

And we believe it is time to rise and build.

“Let us rise up and build.” — Nehemiah 2:18
