Good Shepherd Center Announces Increased Availability of Free, Fresh Vegetables in Addition to Monthly Food Boxes
MADISONVILLE, TN — June 23, 2026 — The Good Shepherd Center is thrilled to announce a significant abundance of fresh, high-quality vegetables at its community food pantry. Thanks to an extraordinarily generous surge in donations from local farms, community gardens, and agricultural partners, the pantry shelves are currently overflowing with a vibrant variety of nutritious seasonal favorites.
With food insecurity remaining a critical challenge for many households, this influx of fresh items comes at the perfect time. These nutrient-dense, fresh vegetables provide vital health benefits, allowing local families to prepare wholesome, home-cooked meals. The Good Shepherd Center is eager to distribute this bounty immediately to ensure everything reaches community tables at peak freshness.
"We are incredibly blessed by the overwhelming generosity of our local agricultural community," said Aaron Sewell, Executive Director at the Good Shepherd Center. "Fresh produce is often the hardest asset for families on a tight budget to afford, yet it is the most vital for health. Our doors are wide open, and we want to ensure that no vegetable goes to waste. We invite anyone in need of nutritional support to come visit us this week."
The fresh produce influx is immediately available for families and individuals utilizing the pantry's weekly distribution services. Monroe County residents experiencing financial hardship or unexpected hardship can pick up fresh vegetables alongside their regular Food Distribution boxes.
