Congratulations to Lauren Lloyd, recipient of the Richard A. Byrnes Leadership Award. 🎉

This award is selected by classmates and recognizes a participant who demonstrates the qualities of a servant leader through engagement, dedication, leadership, and service to others.

Throughout the year, Lauren’s classmates described her as someone who brought “great energy and initiative,” welcomed new ideas, actively engaged in every program day, and helped strengthen both their class project and the group as a whole. Others shared that she was always enthusiastic, asked for others’ opinions, encouraged teamwork, and demonstrated the true qualities of a servant leader.

We are proud to recognize Lauren for the positive impact she made on the Leadership Hopkins County Class of 2025–2026 and our community.

Congratulations to the Leadership Hopkins County Class of 2025–2026. 🎓

Our LHC Committee Member and Alumni, Amy Keith said it best:

“Leadership is not a title, a position, or a single achievement. Leadership is a willingness to step forward, build relationships, solve problems, and invest in the future of your community and organization. Each graduate has demonstrated that commitment.

Throughout this program, they have strengthened connections, shared ideas, challenged one another, and grown both personally and professionally. They have learned that leadership is rooted in collaboration, communication, and the courage to serve others.

As you move forward, continue telling your story, continue building partnerships, and continue creating opportunities for those around you. The relationships formed during this program do not end tonight – they become part of a network that will strengthen our region for years to come.

To the graduates: Congratulations on your hard work and dedication. To the families, employers, mentors and program organizers who supported this journey thank you for investing in leadership development and in the future of our community.”

What a phenomenal Agriculture Day for Leadership Hopkins County. 🌱

Participants got a firsthand look at the people, businesses, and organizations that help agriculture thrive in Hopkins County. The day included visits with Hopkins County Cooperative Extension, Farmer King, Calhoun Grain & Calhoun Custom Meats, Metcalfe Florist & Pleasant View Greenhouses, Inc, and Metcalfe Landscaping and Garden Center.

One of the highlights of the day was visiting Hopkins County Central FFA , where students showcased hands-on agricultural education like welding, greenhouse management, animal science, trapping, and other demonstrations. Participants even had the opportunity to pet "Honey" the cow, drive a tractor, and make their own fishing lures!

The class heard from , who generously donated the meat for lunch, which was prepared by Mark and Penny Metcalfe. Participants explored the history and impact of , sampled local honey during the bee program, and wrapped up the day with a community garden activity alongside Friends of Mahr Park.

A huge thank you to all of our speakers, hosts, guides, students, and community partners who shared their knowledge and passion with the class. Agriculture remains such an important part of Hopkins County, and this day was a great reminder of the leadership, innovation, and hard work that keep it growing.

“A community that grows together does good together.” -Renee Shaw

We had a great night with Renee Shaw at our latest LHC Alumni event!

Her perspective on the connection between journalism and leadership really resonated with our group. From building trust and making meaningful relationships, there were so many takeaways. By the end of the night, attendees had pages full of notes.

If you missed it, you also missed some great behind-the-scenes stories, including her favorite interview, her mentor, and moments from her childhood that helped shape her path into public affairs and educational television.

Want to be in the room next time? Stay connected by joining the LHC Alumni Association.
