What is Opera Props?
Opera Props is an all-volunteer nonprofit organization supporting students in UW’s Voice and Opera program. We raise money for student awards, build enthusiastic audiences for University Opera performances and promote opportunities to enjoy the wonderful variety of performing arts in our community at large. Opera Props was founded in 1980 when fans of Professor Karlos Moser’s UW Opera program saw the need for an independent organization that would work to supplement (not replace) existing institutional sources of financial support and have the capability to act quickly in response to unanticipated problems or unusual opportunities. Currently directed by Professors David Ronis and Mimmi Fulmer, the UW Opera program and is attracting qualified young artists in ever increasing numbers. Opera Props continues to serve as a channel for the generosity of all who appreciate the importance of preparing the next generation to carry on the grand and supremely demanding tradition of operatic singing.
