Know Someone Interested in Joining MYC? There's Still Time to Sign Up for the 2026-2027 Season!

Singers new to MYC in grades 5-12 are invited to make a voice check appointment on Tuesday, September 1 or Tuesday, September 8 to join a performing choir for the 2026-2027 season. Nothing needs to be prepared in advance of your voice check. Our conductors will hear you sing and get to know you. It's a low-stress, supportive environment; we want to find the place for you in our program where you'll be the most successful!

We are also welcoming singers ages 7 through 4th grade to enroll in our fall sessions of introductory choir, with weekly, hour-long sessions available on Sunday afternoons. The theme of our fall introductory choir sessions will be Global Entry: Making Musical Connections Across Cultures.

MYC and Capitol Lakes are overjoyed to announce the return of the Intergenerational Choir this fall. This special collaboration brings together residents of Capitol Lakes, Madison Youth Choirs high school singers, and MYC alumni to create a unique musical ensemble that benefits from blending voices with a wide range of life experiences.

From 2015 to 2020, this choir became a beloved musical ensemble in our community, demonstrating that creative expression is vital at every age and building bridges between artists of different generations.

We are so pleased to announce that Kevin Blakeslee will be expanding his role at MYC to include conducting our Con Gioia ensemble! Kevin will be a familiar face to many as he's been part of our introductory choir team since 2024, teaches general music at Lincoln Elementary in Madison, and often performs in or directs area musical theater productions.

Kevin graduated with honors from the University of Iowa in 2006 with a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance and Music Education, and added his Masters in Choral Conducting and Pedagogy in 2015.

We hope you will join us in giving Kevin a warm and enthusiastic welcome to his new role with MYC!

Introductory Choir is where it all begins! Students ages 7- 4th grade are invited to enroll directly into MYC's fall introductory choir, Global Entry: Making Musical Connections Across Cultures.

Intro choir begins on Sunday, October 4 and runs for eight weeks. Two Sunday sessions are now available, 2-3pm or 4-5pm, and both will meet at MYArts-Madison Youth Arts Center.

MYC's next season begins in September! Students entering grades 5-12 interested in joining a choir are invited to make a voice placement appointment on Tuesday, Sept. 1, or Tuesday, Sept. 8.

Nothing needs to be prepared in advance. Our voice placement appointments are an opportunity to meet with our conductors, sing a bit, and learn more about joining MYC.

Congratulations to the 115 singers, plus an amazing team of summer interns, who shared their voices in MYC's summer music classes this year! It was wonderful to witness significant musical growth, deep focus, and joyful friendships come together so quickly. Many thanks to our summer music program sponsor, Park Bank, who helped these programs to thrive and expand in 2026.

A few more photos and videos from the joyful MYC Alumni Sing on Saturday! This group of choristers spanned several decades of MBC/MCC/MYC history and jumped right into MYC traditions like playing "Four Beats Behind," trying out circlesinging, and even sight reading Sicut Cervus and Ave Maria beautifully.

Only two days until the MYC Alumni Sing on Saturday! Today we're looking back on this beautifully poignant performance of Stephen Sondheim's "Our Time," sung here by MYC alumni and several of our wonderful colleagues at Madison Choral Project, many of whom are also parents of MYC singers.

Cantabile and Ragazzi's 2024 performance of "Fern Hill" was a stunning accomplishment and a favorite memory for many of our singers. They performed this work, a musical setting of a Dylan Thomas poem by composer John Corigliano, at both our May 2024 concerts and at Hamel Music Hall, in collaboration with Madison Choral Project and Bach Dancing & Dynamite Society.
