As we wrap up another meaningful year, my heart is full of gratitude 💙
Because of you, Girls on the Run North Alabama served 94 girls in 2025, helping them build confidence, connection, and life skills through movement and mentorship. This impact would not be possible without our incredible coaches, volunteers, donors, parents, and board members—thank you for believing in our girls and our mission.
I also want to share a personal update: I will be stepping down as Executive Director as I begin the next chapter of my academic journey and work on my dissertation proposal. I am so proud of what we have built together and deeply grateful for this community.
Looking ahead, exciting things are coming! 💫
🏃♀️ Spring 2026 registration is now open at Fern Bell and Richard Showers Recreation Centers, and we can’t wait to welcome new and returning girls and coaches.
As we plan for the future, we’re setting a bold goal to raise $10,000 in 2026 to expand our reach and serve even more girls. True strength isn’t about running fast—it’s about finding your voice, facing challenges, and growing confident through life’s ups and downs. That’s what Girls on the Run is all about.
As 2025 comes to a close, thank you for being part of a community that empowers girls to stand tall and keep going—on the course and beyond. I’ll be cheering Girls on the Run North Alabama on in every season ahead 💙
With Gratitude,
Shannon Bowers-Smith
