The galleries and library are open to the public Tues-Fri 10am-5pm and Sat 12-5pm during exhibitions. ALL has grown from its first space on Winnebago Street to a new 10,000 sq. arts center at the corner of S. Main Streets. ALL is an incubator for artistic expression with a focus on collaboration and community. Stop by during ALL’s open hours or check out an event to see what we’re about. The writi

ng center on the second floor is open Monday through Friday from 10 AM to 2 PM. First floor galleries are open noon to 5 PM Thursday through Saturday during exhibitions. Please check our website for exhibition schedules and holiday closings.

Thursdays, Sept. 17 - Oct. 8 from 6-7:30 PM

A welcoming space to be seen and heard, on the page and in community. Explore inspiring poetry curated to spark your writing within a supportive circle. Open to writers of all levels.

Congratulations again to Mandy Moe Pwint Tu, whose Fablemaker received the 2025 Edna Meudt Poetry Book Award.
Judge Cortney Lamar Charleston wrote:
“I was drawn to this collection for its alchemic ability to take life’s devastations and conjure a world where they may still wound us, but cannot destroy us.”
The Wisconsin Writers Awards recognize exceptional books and short-form writing by writers with ties to Wisconsin. First-place book winners receive $1,000 and a five-day writing residency at Shake Rag Alley Center for the Arts. Book honorable mentions receive $100 and a five-day residency at Ernest Hüpeden’s Painted Forest.

Each year, the Wisconsin Writers Awards recognize outstanding books through both first-place awards and honorable mentions.
Ron Rindo’s Life, and Death, and Giants received the 2025 honorable mention in fiction. Judge Gabriela Garcia wrote:
“Sweeping and tender, this novel centers around the life of one fablelike protagonist but at its heart is about love and loss carried by an entire family and community.”
Book honorable mentions receive a $100 cash prize and a five-day writing residency at Ernest Hüpeden’s Painted Forest. First-place book winners receive $1,000 and a five-day residency at Shake Rag Alley Center for the Arts.

We’re looking back at some of the writers recognized by the Wisconsin Writers Awards and inviting Wisconsin writers to submit their own eligible books for the 2026 awards.
Lindsey Steffes received the 2025 Edna Ferber Fiction Book Award for Gichigami. Judge Gabriela Garcia wrote:
“This is an atmospheric novel that lingers and burns, fueled by Steffes’s precise prose and sense of place.”
