Madison Rotary is open to people of all ages and backgrounds. Check us out www.madisonrotarynj.org Madison Rotary meets weekly on Thursdays at 7:30-8:30am at the Madison YMCA, 111 Kings Road. The morning meeting features a breakfast at 7:30 followed by the meeting at 7:45-8:30. We also have an in-person meeting from noon to 130 at Nicky's Firehouse Pizzeria & Restaurant, 15 Central Avenue. Members, prospective members and visitors are welcome to attend both Madison Rotary meetings. We are open to all and invite your participation.

❤️ **Madison Rotary Serves Up Dinner and Makes a Difference!** ❤️

On Wednesday evening, October 7, a dedicated crew from **Madison Rotary** came together to shop, cook, and serve dinner to 50 hungry guests at **Homeless Solutions, Inc.’s Main Shelter in Morristown**.

🍽️ On the menu: chili dogs, French fries, sauerkraut, broccoli, and delicious vanilla and chocolate cake!

A big thank-you to our volunteers — Barbara Chin-Lucas, Lisa and Dave Macnair, Pam and John Hogan, and Curt Beaudouin — for giving their time and energy to make the evening a success. Special thanks to **Stef Codey** for handling the grocery shopping!

Founded in 1983, Homeless Solutions provides vital support to individuals and families experiencing homelessness. Madison Rotary is proud to help by providing dinner to shelter guests approximately five times a year. We’re grateful for the opportunity to serve our community and support this important organization. 💙

🔧♻️ FREE REPAIR CAFÉ IS BACK IN MADISON! ♻️🔧

Madison Rotary, Grace Church & Repair Café Team Up for Our 7th Repair Café!

Have something at home that needs fixing? Don’t throw it away — bring it to the Repair Café! 🛠️

Join us on Saturday, October 10th, from 11 AM–3 PM at Grace Church, 4 Madison Ave., Madison, NJ, for a FREE community repair event!

Our talented volunteer repairers will help you get your valued items back in working order — and they'll even show you how the repairs are done and what tools are needed!

🛠️ WHAT CAN WE REPAIR?

We can help with many household items, including:

👕 Clothing & fabric items
📱 Phones & computers
🔌 Small appliances
🪵 Wooden items
⌚ Watches needing batteries

Our popular Kids’ Take-Apart Table will be back! Kids can safely take apart everyday items under supervision, discover what's inside, and learn how to use tools. 🔧

🌎 REPAIR • REUSE • KEEP IT OUT OF THE LANDFILL

Repairing instead of replacing saves money, reduces waste, and keeps useful items out of landfills. It’s also a great way to meet neighbors from Madison and surrounding communities!

Our previous events have brought in more than 200 items, with a team of approximately 40 volunteers getting most of them working again. Past repairs have included everything from lamps and dull knives to teddy bears, bird feeders — and even giant skulls! 💀😂

🎟️ FREE — First come, first served!

Please note: Our last repair starts at 2:30 PM, so arrive early if possible.

Items should be small enough for one person to carry in.
🚫 No gasoline motors or hazardous materials.

If you know what you'll be bringing, it’s helpful to email ahead of time with a description of the item — but otherwise, just show up!

We're always looking for new volunteers! Whether you're an experienced repairer with your own tools or you'd like to help with logistics and organization, we'd love to have you.

Volunteers have ranged from their teens to their eighties, making this a wonderful feel-good community event where you can learn, help your neighbors, and make new friends.

🎉 **Bottle Hill Day was a huge success!** 🎉

With **more than 15,000 people attending**, it was an incredible day for the Madison community and for Madison Rotary!

A huge thank-you to **Joe Smith**, a longtime Madison Rotarian, who put in an incredible amount of work to help bring everything together. 👏

Our **hamburger and hot dog sales, along with Jersey Mike’s sandwiches, were brisk**, and Ray DiRiggi, a new member of our treasury team, reported Sunday evening that we **exceeded our sales and fundraising projections!** 🙌

A special thank-you to **Bottle Hill Tavern**, who—as usual—generously donated all of our hamburgers, hot dogs, and buns. We truly appreciate your continued support!

And my hat is off to **Jesse Villari**, a Madison Rotary member and owner of Jersey Mike’s, who donated sandwiches and even had several of his employees helping us cook and clean up throughout the day. What a great example of community partnership! ❤️

Finally, **Steve Shannon and our other Rotary volunteers** did a terrific job running the membership tent on Kings Road and identifying a number of potential new members.

Thank you to **everyone who volunteered, donated, cooked, served, cleaned, promoted, and stopped by to support Madison Rotary.** It takes a team to make an event like this happen—and this team delivered!

Halloween Costume Giveaway

Following the success of our Prom Boutique, the Thursday Morning Club has decided to resurrect its Halloween Costume Giveaway, helping local families offset the expense of purchasing Halloween costumes each year.

Through an incredible stroke of luck, Party City on Route 10 contacted us and generously donated an entire store's worth of costumes in a variety of sizes following the store's closing earlier this spring. We are incredibly grateful for their generosity!

We are still looking for infant and toddler costumes and are reaching out to the local community to help fill those gaps.

🚲 USED BIKE & SEWING MACHINE COLLECTION DRIVE! 🧵

Help us put used bikes and sewing machines to good use in the developing world! 🌎

The Rotary Club of Morristown is celebrating 35 years of putting used bikes and sewing machines to good use and is collecting donations to be sent to:

🇦🇱 Albania

🚲 BIKES
Adult and kids' bikes are welcome. Bikes should be relatively rust-free. Bikes with flat tires or in need of some repair are accepted.

🧵 SEWING MACHINES
Portable sewing machines should be in working condition and include the pedal.

💵 A $25 donation per item is requested to help offset shipping costs overseas.

🧾 All material and monetary donations are tax deductible, and a receipt will be provided.

❤️ Your donation can give a used bike or sewing machine a new purpose while helping people around the world.

On September 21, 2026, the Madison Rotary proudly dedicated a permanent Peace Pole at James Park in Madison, New Jersey, commemorating the International Day of Peace.

The Peace Pole was donated and installed by Madison Rotary and features the universal message “May Peace Prevail on Earth.” The Madison Peace Pole will share this message in seven additional languages meaningful to our community, along with Braille, reflecting the diversity and inclusiveness of Madison.

This meaningful project was spearheaded by Michael Belt, a longtime member of the Madison Rotary Club and Madison resident.

Peace Poles stand around the world as affirmations of peace and as reminders of our shared responsibility to build a more peaceful world. Through this project, Madison Rotary continues its commitment to Rotary’s goal of fostering a culture of peace throughout the world.

May this Peace Pole serve as a lasting symbol of hope, unity, and peace for our community and generations to come.

May Peace Prevail on Earth.

As one of the many educational subjects addressed in our Club’s weekly speaker series, on October 10th, Carla Brady and Nick Rossiello of the Lantern Hill Senior Living community in New Providence provided a very useful oversight of the senior living opportunities in Continuing Care Retirement Communities such as Lantern Hill. These include a wide variety of living arrangements and services, from independent apartment living to full memory and nursing care. Importantly, they also addressed the issues around the “when do I plan” question. Our members came away more knowledgeable about this sensitive but important life-planning topic.
