Happy International Credit Union Day! 🌎

For nearly 80 years, this day has celebrated the people and communities that make the global credit union movement strong. This year’s theme, “Cooperative Finance: A Steady Signal in a Noisy World,” highlights the role credit unions play in bringing stability, trust and access to financial services to people and communities around the world.

Paul Treinen, President and CEO of the World Council of Credit Unions, and Mike Reuter, President of the Worldwide Foundation for Credit Unions extend their warmest wishes to nearly 62,000 credit unions and financial cooperatives.

The wait is over! 🎉 Meet the four recipients of the 2026 Financial Literacy Grants.

This year’s grants will support projects helping people build financial knowledge, confidence and practical money-management skills in their communities.

🇦🇺 Traditional Credit Union (Australia) will deliver culturally appropriate financial education in remote Aboriginal communities, covering budgeting, saving, safe digital banking and scam awareness.

🇺🇸 Loyalty Credit Union (United States) will expand financial education for children, young people and families through its partnership with the Children’s Home Society of Florida.

🇹🇹 Antilles Employees' Credit Union Cooperative Society Limited (Trinidad and Tobago) will strengthen financial literacy among young people and underserved communities through its FutureFWD initiative.

🇲🇰 ФУЛМ Штедилница / FULM Savings House (North Macedonia) will train older adults to recognize and protect themselves against phone fraud, phishing and AI-enabled scams, while empowering them to share that knowledge with their peers.

Day 2 of Global Bridges Ireland 2026 brought a new perspective 🇺🇸

This time, delegates explored how U.S. credit unions approach leadership, community impact and cooperation across the movement.

Day 1 of Global Bridges Ireland 2026 is a wrap! 🇮🇪

Credit union leaders from the United States, Ireland and Ukraine came together in Dundalk to explore how Ireland’s credit union movement serves its communities and prepares for the future.

A big thank you to our hosts at North East Credit Union Ltd. (NECU), especially Billy Doyle and the entire NECU team, for sharing their experience in growth, community partnerships, digital transformation and operational resilience. We’re also grateful to David Malone and Martin Fisher of the Irish League of Credit Unions (Credit Union) for contributing to the exchange.

And thank you to our delegations from Harborstone Credit Union, VyStar Credit Union and PVKS Credit Union (ПВКС) for bringing their perspectives and making the conversations so valuable.

At the 2026 World Credit Union Conference, Daniel Andrade Rodrigues de Souza, Washington Ferreira Nascimento Filho and Heloisa Lopes joined fellow credit union leaders and young professionals from around the world to learn, connect and share ideas.
