What does it mean to think strategically — no matter what your role is?

At WYCUP Global Gateway Session #8, Ning Duong, President and CEO of Financial Center First Credit Union, shared lessons from 25 years across the credit union movement, from operations and HR to technology, branches and beyond.

Drawing on that experience, Ning shared practical lessons on staying focused on both immediate priorities and long-term impact, while highlighting the importance of giving emerging leaders a stronger sense of purpose and connection to the movement.

Ning’s message to the next generation is one worth carrying forward: “Take what’s been built, make it better, and continue changing lives for the generations to come.”

Meet Aline Guzik Duno, the newest member of the WFCU team! 🌎

Aline brings 10 years of experience across program strategy, multilateral diplomacy, international development, and partnerships. Before joining WFCU, she managed financial inclusion programs at WOCCU across Latin America, Africa, and Eastern Europe and represented Mexico in several United Nations negotiations.

Today, she contributes to GWLN program’s global strategy and operations, helping strengthen member engagement, deliver greater value to GLWN members, and supporting the network’s growth.

Outside of work, Aline is a tennis fan, cyclist, reader, aspiring cook, Swiftie, Bad Bunny fan, and devoted dog mom to Madison. 🐶

We’re excited to have her on the team! 💙

While WOCCU and WFCU teams regularly connect with the credit union movement around the world, learning from the broader association community helps us bring new ideas and best practices back to our own work.

One takeaway stood out: the strongest programs aren’t built for members. They’re built with them.

At the ASAE Annual Conference 2026 in Indianapolis, Kassandra Schroeder, Director of WYCUP and Global DE Programs, explored how leading member-based organizations are creating greater value through engagement, education and professional development.

From WYCUP and Global DE to GWLN and other opportunities across the movement, we’re committed to continuously strengthening the value of membership.

Tell us what you’d like to see more of — and help us build the next generation of opportunities together 🌎

What if being yourself is not something you need to overcome to become a stronger leader?

GWLN Brazil Sister Society is challenging the idea that women need to conform to a predefined leadership model to be taken seriously. Through the Women’s Committee, women are building confidence, expanding their perspectives and developing the skills to lead authentically and create meaningful, sustainable impact.

Special thanks to Carla Diana Oteiro, Gisele Gomez and Elaine Mari Shiozaki, whose efforts help create more spaces for women to learn, connect and grow as leaders.

Ninety-three small businesses. $2.5 million in financing. A new approach to SME lending.

For years, Kenyan SACCOs saw lending to small and medium enterprises as risky. A year-long initiative between WOCCU, WFCU, African Confederation Of Cooperative Savings and Credit Associations Academy, and three Kenyan SACCOs — Unaitas, Boresha SACCO, and Kenya Police SACCO — set out to change that.

Instead of relying on traditional approaches, SACCO staff learned to assess businesses based on their cash flow, prospects, and the entrepreneur behind them — while strengthening their overall approach to SME lending.

The result: 93 SMEs accessed $2.5 million in loans, with non-performing loans held below 1%.
