Have you seen this photo from Peru? If you purchased the 2024 International Calendar, you will recognize Leonarda!

Here's the photographer's story about the photo, with thanks to Heather Jasper.

"Even during the worst of the pandemic, Youana and Leonarda journeyed most days to Cusco’s historic center with their freshly shampooed pets in order to pose for tourists’ photos. Here, in the shade of Cusco’s Q’oricancha, the Incan Temple of the Sun, they pose with Blanca, Leonarda’s pet alpaca. Their traditional hats and clothing represent their homes in Quispicanchi and Paucartambo Provinces. Such work allows them and other women like them the flexibility of working for themselves and the opportunity to meet people from all over the world."

What do Haiti and Wisconsin have in common? Wisconsin Microfinance!

With a graduated microfinance program in the Philippines (to local credit unions) and a near 100% repayment rate for microfinance in Haiti, this is a successful model.
