The Personal Essentials Pantry Atwood is pleased to announce that a generous gift to support our mission has been received from the SASY neighborhood association for the second year! This gift of $2500 allows the PEPA to provide essential supplies to many households that find they are without adequate income to provide for personal and household hygiene needs for their family. This amount is expected to provide for approximately 2 1/2 months of supplies. Thank you, thank you.

In 2025, the pantry welcomed both new and returning guests in need of personal and household items. In spite of times when funds were dwindling we were able to serve 481 households for a total of 1843 visits! We registered 217 first time guest households; this is a 16% increase over the 2023 experience. Approximately 50% of households served visited only once. Households with children under the age of four years comprised almost 75% of all visits. The pantry is used by slightly more females. Adults over age 65 were served in 32% of the visits. In total 30,009 products were distributed; this included 2,031 toothbrushes, 669 rolls of dental floss, and 970 tubes of toothpaste…among many other products.

Over 900 hours of volunteer service were given by a wonderfully dedicated group of volunteers.

Our ability to continue this mission is totally dependent upon contributions from community grants and individual donations. Every dollar received is used to purchase products supporting this program. If you'd like to be a supporter, you are encouraged to make a donation of any size with dollars, rather than product. Money donation allows PEPA to purchase (as a 501(c)3 organization) without tax and in bulk so each dollar buys more than on a visit to any store. However, no gift is too small and product offerings are readily received.

Requests for "essentials" have increased greatly in the last 2 years; a 21% increase in utilization already in 2024. We are now experiencing the significant need to again ask our neighborhood for financial support. Any cash you can share will be greatly appreciated. As our purchases are made bypassing the middleman, cash is the most beneficial assistance. Checks made to PEPA/cash gifts can be mailed to/dropped off at Plymouth Church 2401 Atwood Ave Madison, WI 53704. There is also a paypal account at https://atwoodpantry.com/donate

If you prefer giving essentials products these would be most helpful: toilet paper, paper towels, feminine hygiene products, bar soap, facial tissue. All gifts are greatly appreciated.

The Essentials Pantry is a totally volunteer run organization. If interested in serving, contact [email protected].

Here's a shot of today's Free Cart at the pantry. These items are donated by people who might otherwise throw them into the trash - and they don't fit into the standard items that we offer to our guests. So they go on the Free Cart, and guests select what they want. Do you have household supplies or items such as make-up, toiletries, grooming supplies, greeting cards, etc. that you aren't using and would like to clear your cupboards of? Atwood Pantry is happy to take your donations! We're also currently in need of Bandaids, Cotton Swabs, and Panty Liners. Drop your donations off during Pantry hours: Sundays, noon-2; and Thursdays 11:30-2:30. Address is Plymouth Congregational Church, 2401 Atwood Ave in Madison. Please ring the doorbell and we'll happily accept your donations! More info on donating at https://atwoodpantry.com/
