Did you feel the positive energy after Saturday getting together to speak up for what’s right? Bruce and I have a Google Doc with ways you can continue the good fight for public schools!

Check out the Google Doc in my bio to engage with local, state, and national education advocates to fight for our kids, our workers, and our communities!

I tried posting this yesterday, but I’m still getting used to the Tik-Tok-to-FB handoff. I’ll also post a part 2 about ways everyone can get involved in talking to their elected officials!

I wanted a few days to gather my thoughts from Saturday. But I wanted to thank everyone who voted for me to represent Wisconsin educators and schools in DC! I look forward to working with Jesse Martinez, Brent Bergstrom, and WEAC leaders to put our schools and our workers first. And I leave this election cycle with a greater respect and admiration for Rachael Poppe and Jeanne Schierstedt and their advocacy and leadership in our Union. I hope both consider running for positions in the future because we’re a better Union and a better state with their voices at the table.

If there’s one thing I learned during this last year, it’s how important Jessica Jones is to everything I do or hope to do. She designed the logo and all of the materials for the campaign. She listened to me and helped me craft my ideas and messages. And most importantly, she continues to love me and take me for who I am – when I’m stuck on something and not paying attention, or when I’m waking up in the middle of the night because I’m so riled up about some small thing happening in my Union. She brings me back to center and helps me be the best version of myself. And that version needs to center her and her needs, too.

I continue to strive to serve her, my Union, and our schools to the best of my abilities. And I’m grateful for the chance to do so. Solidarity!

With the election less than a week away, I wanted to share what I've been working on for my Union, my schools, and my communities.

If you want to talk ahead of the RA about what you want out of an NEA Director, please reach out. If you know someone who is a delegate, please feel free to share!

Ten things I've done in service to my Union and public schools in the last five months.

It was an honor to share space with local Asian American and Pacific Islander community leaders as we welcomed acting Secretary of Labor Julie Su. Each of us expressed our own hopes, dreams, and concerns for our communities, discussing mental health, education and social services funding, and demanding/building systems that work for everyone.

While our identities are wide ranging, and we came from different backgrounds, one thing we could all agree on was the importance of electing a president that understands our identities and is dedicated to bringing people together instead of tearing them apart. Only one candidate does this and we need to put our energy, our support, and our love behind Kamala Harris these next few months, and in the years to come!

I was proud to vote early today at my local library. It is an awesome responsibility that my ancestors fought for and one I take extremely seriously.

if you are able to vote in Wisconsin, please vote NO on both constitutional amendments! This is a naked power grab by the legislature and would lead to destruction and further distrust of our fragile democracy.

if you don’t know where to vote, check out myvote.wi.gov before August 13th!
