Ukraine has been elected to the UN Human Rights Council for 2027-2029. Ukraine’s role on the committee will be to protect human rights globally and document the consequences of russian aggression.

Ukraine joins the UN Human Rights Council for 2027-2029 while continuing to defend its sovereignty against Russia’s war of aggression. We thank all UN Member States that supported our country’s candidacy.

As Russia’s aggression and grave violations of human rights continue, Ukraine will prioritise accountability, protection of prisoners of war and unlawfully detained civilians, the return of deported and forcible transferred Ukrainian children, and support for international documentation and investigation mechanisms.

“Drawing on our own experience, we will work with partners to strengthen accountability, defend human dignity, reinforce the international human rights architecture, and address emerging challenges to human rights worldwide,” Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha has stated.

Thank you to everyone who made our first Borshch Cook-off so much fun, and thank you for your generosity donating to humanitarian relief for Ukraine through Jeeps For Peace and Crossworld!

We are especially thankful to the 10 talented cooks who entered their delicious borshch variations into the contest. We are so impressed by your culinary skills! Congratulations to Marina Teplova for making the best meat borshch and Olena Kurolapnik for the best vegetarian borshch, as voted on by attendees. Marina and Olena were awarded beet medals and handmade vegetable vinochky (Ukrainian crowns) for their achievement.

A special thank-you also goes out to Clasen's European Bakery for the donation of bread and hard rolls. A meal of borshch is not complete without a good piece of bread!
