Madison American Legion Post #25 The American Legion was chartered by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic veterans organization. high school students.

Focusing on service to veterans, service members and communities, the Legion evolved from a group of war-weary veterans of World War I into one of the most influential nonprofit groups in the United States. Membership swiftly grew to over 1 million, and local posts sprang up across the country. Today, membership stands at over 2.4 million in 14,000 posts worldwide. The posts are organized into 55

departments: one each for the 50 states, along with the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, France, Mexico and the Philippines. Over the years, the Legion has influenced considerable social change in America, won hundreds of benefits for veterans and produced many important programs for children and youth. The Madison Barracks #2082 was chartered in 1920 in Madison,South Dakota by Cliff Coffey. As the years passed, the Post was renamed Mosher-McKibbin American Legion Post #25 after Eugene McKibbin and Robert Mosher. The Post has always been active in the Madison Community and over the years the Post supports American Legion Boy's State and the American Legion Auxiliary sponsors a separate but similar program for young women called Girls State. . American Legion Boys & Girls State is among the most respected and selective educational programs of government instruction for U.S. The Post #25 Legion Baseball team which has produced State Champion teams. The Post Members also support local charities such as the Food Pantry and United Way. Additionally we work closely with Madison VFW Post 2638 to provide burial services for our Veterans.

American Legion Family..On Saturday (6th) at 5 pm we have the Legion family potluck picnic out at Lake Herman State Park...

American Legion Family..

On Saturday (6th) at 5 pm we have the Legion family potluck picnic out at Lake Herman State Park at shelter #2 (by fishing pond). There is playground for the kids, etc.

So we are serving up fresh fried fish & fry’s (some chicken nuggets for kids), pulled pork.

Have plates, napkins, etc. Also drinks (water & soda). Welcome to byob and maybe bring a lawn chair.

If able bring a dish to share (veggies, desserts, etc.).

Legion 605 Riders are also stopping by for the night. Out fundraising for Legion foundation and are accepting donations.

Our Legion Rider’s also will have a Silent Auction table with a US Flag flown 12/07/94 over the Battleship Arizona, SD #250 Flag, a 95’ Harley Davidson Wallet (new in box) and a few more items. (see pic’s).
