We are thrilled about our new program, Meals on Two Wheels, providing grocery delivery by bike! We’ve been piloting the program this fall in collaboration with our friends at The River Food Pantry. 🙌
We deeply understand how transportation is critical to so many things in our lives, like accessing groceries. Bicycles make this process even easier due to their nimble ability to drive right up to doors and our excellent bike infrastructure.
Our pilot driver, Pepe Barros, is knowledgeable about delivery systems on bike alongside the rockstar team at The River who manages a team of volunteers delivering by car. Pepe uses an electric cargo bike and trailer to haul 160 lbs of high quality frozen goods, milk, produce and non-perishables.
Our next phase of this collaboration will be to fundraise so we can launch this program in April 2026. Meals on Two Wheels will run from April through October each year in the Madison area IF we can raise financial support to fund it. We will be seeking volunteers with e-bikes and cargo bikes this winter.
