A note from Founder Vivek Ramakrishnan:
Pass It On Soccer is currently in the middle of its most significant project to date, the construction of a community soccer field in Mpigi, Uganda. The Mpigi Soccer Field Project is an exciting collaboration between Pass It On Soccer and the Abato Foundation Uganda that will bring a sustainable community soccer field and recreational space to the children of Mpigi. Co-managing the project with me are Ben Makansi of Pass It On Soccer and Kalanzi Moses of the Abato Foundation. For more information, please visit www.crowdrise.com/MpigiSoccerFieldProject
Unfortunately, the project will also effectively mark the end of Pass It On Soccer's work as a non-profit. Over the past year, logistical challenges have made continuing full-scale operations untenable. Operating Pass It On Soccer has been an amazing experience, and I'm indebted to fellow volunteers Jason Murray, Henry Cutting, Will Pretto, Alex Shuchuk and Kory Alt, who have all contributed meaningfully to the work we have done. Soccer is a powerful sport, and I'm proud that we were not only able to help use the sport as a vehicle for social development, but also make accessible the simple joy of the game in several communities. Following the completion of the Mpigi Soccer Field Project, we will continue to oversee the maintenance of the field along with Abato and hope to continue hosting the annual Pass It On Soccer Cup in Mpigi. Our hope is that the field leaves a legacy of Pass It On Soccer's work in a community that we have already partnered with for several years.
Yours in soccer,
Viv
